Havok, the physics engine specialists whose engine has already appeared in Max Payne 2 and will also appear in Half-Life 2, is to port and optimise its Havok Physics Engine onto Sony's forthcoming handheld PSP console. Dr. Steven Collins, chief technology officer at Havok, commented that 'PSP is an incredibly exciting platform for Havok. It will be great to port to PSP which has the power to leverage Havok's collision detection and game dynamics products.'

Obviously the Havok engine is being specially tailored for Sony's powerful handheld, but nonetheless the fact that forthcoming titles are going to need such an accomplished physics engine speaks volumes about what the PSP may be capable of.
