ho una macchina con un HD scsi Quantum atlas IV da 10 Gb su cui ho messo il sistema operativo e programmi

poi c'è un HD maxtor diamond da 80gb per i dati su canale ide

la partizione per il file di swap, la metterei sul hd ide.
mi confermate che sia la soluzione più performante?

o è meglio farla sul hd scsi per sfruttarne la velocità?

La seconda!
Soprattutto se hai poca RAM lo swap diventa importantissimo che sia veloce. Mettilo sullo SCSI insieme al S.O. e ai prog. più importanti. Dati, giochi, ecc... mettili invece sull'IDE.
