"Well, who's watching.
NBC had a close-up of Ted Kennedy after Bush mentioned Congress giving seniors prescription drug coverage under Medicare. He shook his head and sighed.
Let's hear this mess..."
"He's already said "nukular" three times."
- lakegz, San Diego
"I like how he mentioned El Salvador as being part of the Large and encompassing international presence in Iraq. hahahaha"
- Machiavelli
"OMG!..I think I heard some "BOOS" when he talked about the tax cuts, how amusing as the whole thing is "BOO"-worthy."
- sjambler, Lancaster
"I can't stand how in State of the Union speeches the president says all these brief statements and everyone claps for twice as long - it feels more like some kind of praise-the-leader ceremony than a speech."
- lakegz, San Diego
"I liked it when the dems clapped and interrupted him when he said that parts of the patriot act were going to expire."
- Machiavelli
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
He's talking about gay marriage and did not use the word in one sentence....lofl!"
- edsas, Glendale, CA
"Yeah, it's a weird way to give a speech,
One difference I notice between Bush and Clinton, though, is when Bush is cut off by applause, he picks up in the exact same place in his speech, even if it's in the middle of a sentence, whereas Clinton usually paraphrased what he just said so that the sentence makes sense on its own. Bush is not a great orator by any means."

"Well it seem they heavily rely on the war on terror, and other endeavours mascaraded as being part of the war on terror. Don't know what they would have done without it. But I liked the Democratic speech better, especially putting an emphasis on international co-operation in good faith and their overall attitude."

"Ok, I watched it tonight with an objective eye, and here is what I was able to come up with.
The positive: Bush has become much more comfortable in his job and in his skin, and if just listened to on the surface his message seems strong. He spoke with a confidence that made you want to believe him
The negative: I don't know what America he lives in but the America he described is not the America I live in. His confidence quickly became arrogance. I wanted to believe so badly that we are safer here at home because of his pre-emptive war. I wasn't so badly to believe that the world has become or is becoming more safe. I wanted to believe so badly that he wasn't leaving any child behind. I wanted to believe that our economy is on the mend. I wanted to buy in so bad that we are bettere off today than were were 3 years ago, but the fact is that we aren't. I want a pair of his rose-colored glasses, his jaded vision. It's so easy to live in a world where everything is fine and dandy; where evil is being punished, and good prevails. A world where people have a say in how their country is ran.
I came away with this feeling more discouraged than before. I came away feeling as though I have no say in how my own country is being ran. I came away feeling as though Bush was telling me that there are no room for other leaders in America, that his view was supreme, that his view is right because of his authority.
Bush, where do the people fit into your vision of America? Why are their voices continually being lost in the wind, or hitting brick walls? Bush, where is the future of our country outside and beyond the ever-present fear of terrorism? Where can you take us that someone else couldn't in the next 4 years? Why should I believe and trust in you when you've proved to be a double-speaker again and again? Why in 3 years is the country still divided 50/50, and why don't you seem to care?
As you can see, I was left with man questions and doubt?"

"I think half of the country is perpetually locked into "approving" of GWB on the basis of fear. They believe in the absolute myth that *only* THIS administration could have *saved us* from futher destruction in the months after 9-11. Garbage. Knocking off the Taliban was no unique stroke of tactical brilliance. It was obvious that it was Al-Qaeda's main base. Retaliation there was mandatory (for any president). Besides, we waited for the northern Alliance to come down and take Kabul.
This rogue administration betrayed the War on Terror anyway when it attacked Iraq. How many lies must they be caught in? Or are there just too many to remember?
That's all I want to know, where is my future and my fellow countrymen's future apart from terrorism? There has always been terrorism and the threat of it here in America. It is nothing new as this administration tries to make it appear. People in the world experience this everyday. London is a great example of this.
But what London and the others do that we don't is really something:
"Terrorism and it's threat does not define them."
Terrorism shouldn't define who were are as a country. I am no more scared than I have ever been, and I shouldn't be more scared. Terrorism was bound to happen here, and everyone needs to realize that. September 11th shouldn't have been a surprise for us besides the nature the attack was conducted in. And not only is the Bush administration not the only ones that can lead is though it, they aren't not the best ones to do so. So quit forcing fear down my throat. I ain't gonna to sallow it! I saw, just as well as you did, what happened on September 11th, Mr. Bush, and I'm not going to live in fear because of it.

It's comforting to know not all Americans swallowed the highly presidential garbage delivered this evening to every household."

"BTW Guys, IMO the biggest laughable part of the Bush speech is clearly the LIE he said about Afghanistan. He made Afghanistan sound like its a success!!!! Its a success when the Warlords have taken control over most of Afghanistan (including the Taliban), and when the women are intimidated by the men from exercising their so called freedoms?"

"You just don't get it do you. Conquering Iraq was about the very last thing to do if you had any REAL ambitions of winning the War on Terror. The reality of it is there are now more young men joining groups like Al Quaeda to fight US infadels. Meanwhile our seaports and borders are wide open to terrorists who would like to infiltrate into our country to do us harm."

"Anyone else want to bet that if Bush wins the nomination that his first act in '05 will be to change his title from "President" to "CEO"."
