ma come diamine si fa ad installare i file necessari x poter modificare il kernel a finestre??


mi serve perche' avendo winXP in ntfs DEVO a tutti i costi modificare il file boot.ini altrimenti non riesco ad avviare win (neanche da provvisorio)

ma non esiste una guida passo passo fatta per quelli che non sanno NIENTE di linux? Non ci credo!

(ho scaricato i sorgenti e scompattati....ora?)

P.S. se esiste un modo per abilitare la modalita' in scrittura ntfs anke senza la modalita' a finestre mi va bene lo stesso, basta che mi scrive!

Da Linux NON PUOI scrivere sull'NTFS di Windows XP.

Se hai problemi col boot.ini e non riesci ad accederci l'unica soluzione e avviare il PC col CD di installazione di Windows XP e usare la console di ripristino.

Non è esatto , da linux PUOI scrivere su NTFS , ma non è assolutamente consigliato .

Se scrivi potresti bruciare il file system . ( L' HELP del kernel parla chiaro) Purtroppo la M$ non rilasciando le specifiche del suo nuovo FS non permette la scrittura di un driver in grado di supportarne appieno la scrittura , comunque c'è sempre la lettura

Effettivamente non è che non si possa, però la quantità di limitazioni che il supporto NTFS pone lo rendono praticamente inutilizzabile.

Questo è quello che c'è nel kernel 2.6 a riguardo:


CONFIG_NTFS_RW:

This enables the partial, but safe, write support in the NTFS driver.

The only supported operation is overwriting existing files, without
changing the file length. No file or directory creation, deletion or
renaming is possible. Note only non-resident files can be written to
so you may find that some very small files (<500 bytes or so) cannot
be written to.

While we cannot guarantee that it will not damage any data, we have
so far not received a single report where the driver would have
damaged someones data so we assume it is perfectly safe to use.

Note: While write support is safe in this version (a rewrite from
scratch of the NTFS support), it should be noted that the old NTFS
write support, included in Linux 2.5.10 and before (since 1997),
is not safe.

This is currently useful with TopologiLinux. TopologiLinux is run
on top of any DOS/Microsoft Windows system without partitioning your
hard disk. Unlike other Linux distributions TopologiLinux does not
need its own partition. For more information see
