Raid0 e upgrade bios, pericolo ?

Vorrei flashare il bios della mia mobo asus P4B-533-E-RAID ma ho su una catena Raid su due HD, cè il rischio di perdere tutti i dati del Raid?

I dati relativi al Raid risiedono nella Bios o negli Hd?

Conviene aggiornare da WinXP o da Dos al boot?

Meglio aggiornare da dos, in genere è più sicuro. Per quanto riguarda il raid... beh io su alcune mobo ho aggiornato il bios ed è andata sempre bene, però non è una cosa consigliata. Ho letto anche di array non riconosciuti. Diciamo che sarebbe meglio avere un backup.
L'aggiornamento del bios della mobo va ad agiornare anche il bios del controller raid on-board.

Devi controllare se la versione del bios RAID NUOVA e' compatibile con quella vecchia...

Vai al sito del produttore e controlla le revisioni degli aggiornamenti del bios RAID

Come? Dove?

Sul sito asus qualsiasi esso sia italiano o estero rimanda sempre alla stessa area download, nel quale trovi i bios e nessuna descrizione utile, al max 2 frasette tipo "sUpdate CPU microcode" scaricando i l file mi ritrovo un unico file .awd e nessun file di testo (na volta li mettevano).

Quindi non mi dice neanche la revisione del bios che contiene il file da flashare x poter confrontarli.

ho trovato una history, ma l'ultima bios la 1014 2003/03/19 che qui non compare, attualmente ho su la versione originale ossia la 1004.

In genere le schede madri con controller raid incorporato hanno il bios del raid incorporato con quello di sistema... se non ci sono avvisi di cambiamento di revisione del bios raid vuol dire che è rimasto quello "originale"...

Dovresti stare tranquillissimo a fare l'upgrade all'ultimo bios... che tra l'altro corregge molti "altri" problemi.

Ultimo dubbio: alla domanda "UPDATE BOOT BLOCK AREA AND ESCD" debbo acconsentire o posso anche tralasciare questa parte? Che tipo di dati risiedono in queste aree? Grazie

Ragazzi, andateci piano con questo aggiornamento..... io stò giusto passando problemi per il mancato riconoscimento dell'array dopo un aggiornamento bios da dos.
Meno male che ho un salvataggio recente che in qualche modo ha contenuto la portata della str@@@ata! :muro:

Cmq easy recover pro mi stà dando una grossa mano :cool:

Strana la vita, mi son creato tante paranoie per paura di perdere la catena raid con l'aggio del bios, anche se la roba veramente indispensabile la tenevo in un Hd fuori dalla catena, ho aggiornato la Bios all'ultima release con successo e senza perdere nulla della catena raid, ma la sfiga ha fatto molto meglio, mi ha scassato proprio l'Hd che non era in raid e che conteneva 4 anni di lavori. Morale se qualkosa deve andare storto non cè verso.

Cmq credo che se ci fosse incluso un'aggiornamento anche per il fw del controller lo segnalerebbe nel txt (che però asus NON allega alla bios devi scovartelo tipo caccia al tesoro, mortacci sua......)
