I asked Terry if CATALYST 3.8 is still on track for Wednesday, since many people on Rage3D are quite anxious to see this CATALYST update. Here is what he said:

Its a special DX/OGL switch in the control panel that enables NV emulation wrapper to enable specialized FX code paths!

It allows ATI cards to use the dumbed down GF FX code path in any of the newer games. Initial testing has shown from 130% all the way up to a 420% increase in frame rates with "practically unnoticeable" image quality degradation!

..adesso manca solo la possibilita' di far comparire il logo della nvidia nell systray.. hi hi ...

possibilità quindi di vedere i demo della FX in azione? per adesso solo Dawn era "disponibile"....ma ogre,vulcano e time machine no....chissà sa funzioneranno!!

e ...con aumenti del framerate dal 130 fino a 420%.....ma dico stiamo scherzando!? ma in quali applicazioni??

no scusa...e poi su quali schede? dite anche sulla mia ? ossia se faccio in un applicazione che dicono loro 150frames adesso dopo ne farò 195? con un minimo incremento del 130%.......è da pazzi!!:eek:

E' possibile far girare TUTTI i demo nVIDIA? Certo che se confermato non c'è niente da dire: altro duro colpo alla nvidia...

Pensate che le schede pseudo-dx9 possano far girare i demo della Ati???

i demo di Ati girano sulle nVidia....altra dimostrazione che almeno c'è qualcuno che cmq si basa sulle specifiche MicroSoft.....senza stare a scrivere librerie proprie....

credo però che ci debba essere pieno supporto delle DX in HW....ad esempio nn credo proprio che una geForce3-4 faccia girare(anche se ovviamente lentissimi) i demo della 9700....
