non riesci piu' a masterizzare con nero , con nessuno dei due drive : cd e dvd.. appena parte a registrare.. esce un messaggio: "drive is in use by another application." ...

I had the same problem with when i upgraded to Nero 6.0.0.9. The way I fixed it was the following:

1) In the RUN dialogue box type: services.msc

2) Click on the standard tab in the right hand window.
3) Scroll to the IMAPI CD-Burning service. Right-Click & select PROPERTIES
4) on the General Tab, select disable in the Startup type.

Once this is done Nero started burning like normal.

Hope this Helps!

---------------perfetto!! provato! funziona!!------------

Drive in use by another application" is an error usually associated with packet writing software claiming the drive in use by a premastering burning program.

Not only is Nero 6.xx buggy, but InCD 4.xx as well. Try uninstalling InCD and see if the error disappears.

The problem may have been compounded by your multisession disc settings. If the problem doesn't occur with "No Multisession" selected and burning in Disk at Once instead of Track at Once, then the multisession track at once settings may be interacting with InCD.

Usually, if a packet writing program like InCD is used, multisession recording may not be necessary. If multisession if preferred, then the packet writing program may not be necessary.

Your problem is less likely to be caused by the built in Roxio burning engine. If the advice above doesn't fix the error, you can try disabling it as follows:

To disable the built-in Roxio burning engine in WinXP go to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services |IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service | General and turn it off by setting the service status to Stopped.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can see that many are suffering from Nero 6's "Drive is in use by another application" bug and I may have a solution, though others have said they fixed it by doing other things so this may have only worked for me. Here's what I did.

1. Uninstall any other system wide ASPI layers you have installed, that is if you have ForceASPI or something else.

2.Download the latest version of adaptecs ASPI at http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe now if you read the instructions for how to iunstall it on XP it says to use the install.bat file I did this but when I ran the ASPI check utility that came with it, it said that I had files missing so I ran the main install, not meant for XP, also and it installed the other files.

3.Go into Nero and rename the file WNASPI32.dll to WNASPI32.old this is NERO's ASPI manager once you rename it nero seems to use the adaptec ASPI.

This did it for me and Nero 6 has been a real pleasure to use since then, I don't promis anything though. Hope this helps.

It is good that this worked out for you, but I wouldn't recommend it as a general solution for everyone.

First, many people have found that Adaptec system ASPI 4.60 as installed by forceASPI is more reliable for them than the newer versions. This isn't always the case, but it is something to keep in mind.

Second, and more importantly, the WNASPI32.dll in the Nero program directory implements a custom ASPI developed by Ahead specifically to work with Nero products. Although Nero will work with Adaptec's system level ASPI, you might eventually run into some other mysterious conflict or failure.

Did you try disabling XP's built-in IMAPI burning service before you tried replacing the ASPI? And did you try uninstalling InCD?
