-RESOURCES-
There are two resources in the game: food and ore. You must gather these resources with your workers and spend them to create units and buildings.
Ore - at the start of each mission you should see a pile of ore somewhere near your starting base.
To collect the ore, select a worker and right-click on the ore pile. He should walk to the ore pile and begin mining.
Workers need to drop the ore off somewhere before you can use it. On the Good side, this is the Stronghold building. On the Evil side, this is the Goblin Hovel building.
The more workers you assign to mine an ore pile, the faster you will collect ore.
You can construct a Foundry building on top of the ore pile in order to collect ore even faster. To do this, select a worker, left-click the Foundry icon in the center interface area, and then right-click on the ore pile. The worker should construct the Foundry.
Food - at the start of each mission you should see an ancient well somewhere near your starting base.
You must construct a Mill building over this well, and that allows you to collect food from the Mill.
To construct the Mill, select a worker unit, left-click the Mill icon in the center interface area, then right-click on the well. The worker should construct the Mill. Select workers then right-click on the Mill to order them to collect food.
Workers need to drop the food off somewhere before you can use it. On the Good side, this is the Stronghold building. On the Evil side, this is the Goblin Hovel building.
You can see how much of each resource you have just above the Action Panel in the interface.
-CONSTRUCTING BUILDINGS-
To construct a building, first select a worker unit. In the center interface area, icons will appear that represent all the buildings you can construct.
Left-click the icon of the building you wish to construct. Then move the mouse cursor over the terrain until you find a valid location to construct the building (if the location is invalid, the footprint of the building will show up as red on your mouse cursor). Right-click on the terrain to order the worker to begin construction. If you mouse-over the building’s icon, a tool-tip will pop up. The tool-tip will give you a description of the building, tell you how much it costs, and tell you if it requires any other buildings before it can be constructed.
-GOOD SIDE BUILDING RULES-
Good side buildings must be built within a certain radius of other Good side buildings. This is represented by a radius decal that appears on the terrain around Good side buildings when you are placing a building. The Stonghold, the Mill, and the Foundry are exceptions to this rule and can be built anywhere.
-EVIL SIDE BUILDING RULES-
Evil side buildings cannot be placed on normal terrain. First, the terrain must be corrupted. The Slave Master unit can corrupt terrain by placing a War Post (select the Slave Master, left click on the War Post icon in the Action Panel, then right-click on the terrain). Once the War Post is placed, the land around it will become corrupted, allowing you to construct buildings on it.
-PRODUCING UNITS-
When you select a building, the Action Panel will display the icons of the units that can be trained at that building.
Left-click on the unit’s icon to begin training that unit. A build bar will appear in the center interface. When the bar fills up, the unit will be finished and will pop out of the building.
You can queue units to be built by clicking again on the unit’s icon in the action panel.
If you wish to cancel a unit which is under construction (or in the queue), left-click on that unit’s icon in the center interface area (not in the Action Panel).
-POPULATION CAPACITY-
The total number of units you can possess at one time is limited by the population capacity. Each time you train a unit, it takes up a little bit of this capacity. Your current population count and maximum population capacity are displayed above the Action Panel in the interface. The first number represents your current population count, and the second number represents your
maximum population capacity.
The maximum population capacity can be increased. On the Good side, this is done by constructing Camp buildings.
On the Evil side, this is done by training Slave Master units. Each Camp or Slave Master you produce will add to your maximum possible population capacity.
-PLACES OF POWER-
Places of Power are objects on the map that can be taken over by a team. When a team owns a Place of Power, all units on that team will gain some benefit (such as increased attack power, extra hit points, etc). When you select a Place of Power, a decal appears on the terrain around it. This represents the “control zone” of the Place of Power. To take over a Place of Power, a player must move his units into the control zone AND be the only team present in the control zone (so if there are enemies present in the control zone, they must first be killed). So the basic rule is: to take control of Place of Power, the player’s units must be the only living units inside the control zone.
