Administrator Rights Required For The Use Of The WingMan Profiler in Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP
Customer Support Document # 4823
Updated: 5-9-2002
This document is written with the assumption that the user has a general understanding of basic Windows® commands in order to perform the procedures detailed below. For assistance with these procedures, please consult the Microsoft Windows manual, or online help system.
Administrator Rights Required For The Use Of The WingMan Profiler
In order to use the WingMan Profiler in Windows 2000 and XP, you must be logged in as an administrator (owner for Windows XP home edition). This is due to the fact that the Profiler creates a virtual keyboard to record commands and it must be able to write to the Windows Registry to do this.
Supported Logitech gaming devices should function normally for all users provided the devices are first installed by an administrator. However, if a new device is plugged in or a connected device is plugged into a different USB port while a user is logged in, the device will not detect. This is because anytime a new device is plugged in or a device is plugged into a different port, the Windows Registry must be updated. The workaround is to log in as administrator.
For information on configuring users rights, please consult your Windows manual or contact Microsoft®.
Special note for gaming devices connected to the gameport: Logitech digital gameport devices offer driver support only. This means they should function normally, but will not be detected by the WingMan Profiler. WingMan software should be installed even though there is no Profiler support, as it will install the latest drivers for Logitech digital gameport device
