my machine is composed by:
motherboard Tyan THUNDER K7 (S2462) with integrated scsi controller
CPU AMD 2x MP 2400+
video card ELSA GLORIA III 64mb DDR, chipset quadro 2 Nvidia with latest BIOS rev
RAM 2 x 1Gb corsair ECC reg. cas 2
OS win XP pro
BIOS PHOENIX v2.14 - PHOENIX server BIOS 2 rel.6
Alim: 460W dual athlon certified
Disk: 2 x 18Gb FUJITSU U160 SCSI
Problem : BLACK VIDEO SCREEN AND NO BOOT
I upgraded the motherboard bios from v2.09 to v2.14 to install the mp 2400+ instead of the old MP 1500+, the flashing procedure step by step from TYAN support indication and with fully compliance flash utilities phlash......, successfully completed and the machine prompt to restart the computer, good, when I restart the machine the screen persists on black, so I removed my AGP-ELSA video card, and i tried to restart the machine, the computer boot up with the integrated ATI XL PCI video card, so I tried to change the various parameters of the bios in the chipset configuration and in the other pages, but when i re-insert the ELSA video card the computer does not start. I installed TNT2 M64 on the motherboard and the computer starts, at this time the AGP slots securely is OK (I installed the latest AMD AGP driver and patch, v533 i think), after I installed the ELSA video card on my older machine and it correctly runs on.
I'm desperate, I restored the default settings of the bios but nothing change..........what can I do?????
I send you the responses of TYAN support, at the same mail
THANKS for yor support
Alessandro,
The issue is something to do with the firmware of the ELSA product. We do
not see any other side affects other than the ELSA card itself. Since ELSA
is no longer in business in Europe (they are only doing ATI based chipsets
now and are not even in business in the Americas's any longer) we can't get
them to update their cards in order to fix this issue. Since all the other
cards are working without issue it would show again that the firmware
specific to the ELSA card is the source of your issue.
Alessandro,
v2.13 was the first bios to include 2400+ AMD Athlon CPU's. As I have
stated in previous emails the ELSA card apparently doesn't want to work with
the latest bios and we have no way to remedy this issue due to ELSA's
current business model. Since we can't elicite ELSA's help in fixing this
problem it is something we currently can't account for.
