Errore database mysql dopo aggiornamento

buongiorno,
il mio sito mi ha chiesto di aggiornare il database da 5 a 8 hostato su aruba.
dopo il processo però non riesco piu ad accedere riportando un errore "database error".
il wp-config.php riporta tutti i dati e databse corretti mentre il wp-admin mi riporta qeusto:

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure the database server is running?

Io ho fatto un aggiornamento simile e ho dovuto aggiornare il connector mysql installando la versione piu' recente invece di quella per il 5. Prova a vedere che versione del connector sta utilizzando wordpress ed eventualmente aggiornala.
