Parzialmente risolto: l'anomalia era dovuta all'aver mantenuto la cache in scrittura attiva
Ho riscritto completamente il testo, credo che la discussione si possa tenere aperta per eventuali contributi.
Ho installato il PNY CS900 da 120GB (desktop con cpu Atom D525, Sata II, non AHCI (almeno per il momento), s.o. win XP, è il disco di boot (+altra partizione Linux).
Partendo dalla anomalia di cui nel titolo ho disabilitato la cache in scrittura ed ho ripassato il test, i risultati (prima senza e poi con la cache) sono questi:

Credo che mi converrà tenere la cache attiva, a meno di non riuscire a risolvere il problema AHCI.
