Ricontrollando un lotto di vecchi hard disk prima di metterli in vendita mi sono accorto di un fatto forse notevole. Un Hitachi ( marca giapponese :sofico: ) riporta 80.000 ore di uptime con soli 166 cicli di accensione.
L'hard disk è rimasto montato nel mio server certamente per almeno 5/6 anni, e prima di allora era... probabilmente sempre montato sul mio server, o forse comprato usato...

È certamente il power_on_hours più alto che ho mai avuto tra i miei dischi, e probabilmente anche il più alto di cui abbia mai sentito parlare :sofico:
In particolare sono rimasto contento nel trovarmi con un Hitachi (l'unico Hitaci che ho al momento) così duro a morire, perché proprio ieri stavo teorizzando che dei i tre produttori mondiali di HDD ad oggi rimasti sul mercato – WD, Seagate e Toshiba – i dischi Hitachi siano probabilmente quelli di miglior fattura e longevità nel taglio 3.5", quello cioè ereditato da Toshiba con la fusione delle due società.
Quali sono i vostri dischi più duri a morire?
