Hard Disk 2,5" esterno ad uso interno

Per chi cerca un hd da 2,5" ad esempio da 2 Tb uso interno troverà in rete prezzi anche parecchio superiori ad una soluzione di hd esterna.
Ottimi hd 2,5" esterni (WD, samsung, Toshiba) si trovano in offerta anche sui 90 euro.

Allora mi chiedevo se fosse possibile utilizzare l'hd esterno, smontandolo per poterlo mettere in un notebook.

Qualcuno lo ha fatto, è fattibile come soluzione?

si, è possibile, ma solo se l'interfaccia USB-SATA non è saldata sull'hard disk, come purtroppo sta facendo sempre più spesso proprio Western Digital.

In teoria si, in pratica no purtroppo.

In teoria si perché c'è chi ha stilato un elenco (parziale) dei dischi che possono essere estratti tranquillamente da box esterni da 2,5'' :

WDBMWV0020BBK-EESN: WD My Passport Ultra 2TB Black. Specs in Word Document don't tell about what the drive itself uses as an interface. Internal drive actually has an USB connector (see first YouTube video).

HDTB120EK3BA or HDTB120EK3CA: Toshiba STOR.E Basics 2TB Black. Specs on web page (can't find PDF or Word Document) do not tell what the internal drive uses as an interface, but there is actually a SATA drive inside: an MQ01ABB200 which is 15mm high.

HX-M201TCB/G or STSHX-M201TCB: Samsung M3 Portable 2TB Black. Specs in PDF document do not tell what the internal drive uses as an interface. Could not find a tear down video or description. Storatereview indicates there is a Seagate M9T drive inside.

STDR2000100 and STDR2000200: Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB black. Specs in PDF document do not tell what the internal drive uses as an interface. But it is in fact a Seagate M9T is normally only available to OEM, and seems 9.5 mm high.

STBX2000401: Seagate Expansion Portable 2TB black. Specs in in PDF document do not tell, but in fact it is also a Seagate M9T (and is popular to get in a PS4).

Bare Seagate M9T SATA 2.5 inch drive model numbers include ST2000LM003 of which the PDF indicates it is 9.5 mm high and other model number are ST2000LM004 and ST2000LM006.

STDA4000100 and STDA4000200: Seagate Backup Plus Slim 4TB black. Specs in the PDF datasheet do not tell, but it has two M9T 2TB drives inside in RAID0 (striped) configuration, and can become very warm. (Note the STCA4000100 containing a 3.5inch model ST4000DM000 drive).

La lista è abbastanza attendibile MA posso dire con certezza che non è sempre vera. Purtroppo infatti talvolta alcuni dischi vengono cambiati in corso d'opera, quindi potrebbero essere stati sostituiti nel tempo da soluzioni più economiche con connettore USB3.0 saldato direttamente su disco. Ovviamente non c'è traccia di questo, in quanto la compagnia produttrice, qualunque essa sia, non è tenuta a rendere conto di tali modifiche, in quanto l'utente finale non dovrebbe aprire i box pertanto sapere che dentro c'è un disco SATA o direttamente USB non gli dovrebbe importare.

Quindi puoi tentare la sorte, magari con uno dei modelli sopra citati potresti avere maggiore fortuna che non scegliere un modello qualsiasi, ma ti assicuro che non ci si può fidare ciecamente di quanto scritto, perché le cose potrebbero essere cambiate nel frattempo :rolleyes:

Capito, un bel problemino.
Io ho un paio di hd wd da 2 tb, certo se fossi sicuro farei il tentativo, anche perchè aprendolo invaliderei la garanzia residua (un annetto).

Bah, vedrò in giro se si riesce a trovare qualche hd interno a prezzi buoni.
