Mancato aggiornamento drivers (9998)

Premessa: posseggo un PC desktop HP Pavilion Elite m9495it con Vista home 64. Qualche giorno fa ho migrato il tutto a Windows 8 Pro. La migrazione è andata ... molto bene e sono pienamente soddisfatto. Ho installato anche un vecchio programma (SlimDrivers) per l'aggiornamento dei drivers. L'ho lanciato e mi ha segnalato diversi drivers da aggiornare (ovviamente recenti...). Il programma li scarica regolarmente ma al momento di installarli il sistema risponde "Il sistema non soddisfa i requisiti minimi previsti per questo aggiornamento. L'aggiornamento è stato annullato (9998).
Ho provato ad installare un altro driver che il sistema dava mancante, questa volta manualmente e con privilegi da ammin, e la risposta è stata la stessa...
E' possibile che essendo un PC ... diciamo "proprietario" ci sia qualche cosa che blocca l'aggiornamento avendo effettuato un upgrade del sistema operativo ? Sul sito HP non ho trovato nulla.

Grazie x_maste_x ... è il sito HP inglese ? Ho letto attentamente la comunicazione HP, ma credo che il mio caso non rientri nei tre citati.
1) sicuramente i driver che ho cercato di installare erano + recenti
2) l'hardware è rimasto "quello che era" ...
3) il pc ha 8 GB, e spazio a volontà.....

Se viene qualche altra idea ... non vorrei non poter aggiornare i driver finchè tengo questo PC. Sono passato a Win8 proprio per farlo sopravvivere ancora qualche annetto (in verità sono molto soddisfatto rispetto a come "funzionava" con Vista)

Passato da WVista a W8 i driver sono rimasti quelli di WVista per cui non possono essere aggiornati in W8
Scarica Driver Magician (http://www.drivermagician.com/download.htm) lo installi e in modalità prova ti fai un Backup di tutti i Driver.
Ti crea una cartella con tutti i Driver installati.
Scarica dal sito HP (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3838745&lc=it&cc=it&dlc=) i driver per W7 64bit se hai W8 Pro a 64 bit
Disintalla i driver da Gestione Dispositivi, riavvia il PC
Installa manualmente i driver mancanti
Se qualcosa non funzionasse reinstalla quelli del Backup di Drive Magician

Vado per ipotesi, i driver che ti ha trovato quel programma, anche se aggiornati, probabilmente non sono gli stessi driver che riporta il sito ufficiale HP per il tuo notebook e quindi non te li fà installare dandoti l'errore.
Personalmente non uso i programmi che ti scaricano i driver ( al limite quelli che ti fanno il backup tipo Double Driver ) ma vado sul sito del produttore e faccio il download dell'ultima versione stabile disponibile e li installo manualmente
