E poi è a turni.:DCombat in Arakion allows you to choose real-time, turn-based or a unique blend of both. The core system of Arakion takes two old school styles of gameplay and merging them into one seamless combat experience.
Real-time combat allows you to play the entire game real time, having the enemy take turns at the same time as your heroes. This allows for a much more fast paced and thrilling combat experience. Characters attacks are set on a timer enemies have diagonal attacks.
Turn-based allows you the time to think and strategize every move. In turn based mode each turn the enemies and yourself have one move, attacks are on a speed based system and combat tends to be much more thought out allowing you to strategize against the hordes.
The core system, is a seamless blend both real time and turn based, having real time as a base or when attacked by only one or two enemies but switching to turn based as soon as a horde approaches or you are surrounded. This allows you to go fast paced when it's needed and be able to stop and think about your moves at moments that are otherwise hectic.L'ultimo paragrafo in particolare: in automatico tempo reale con pochi nemici, passaggio ai turni con più avversari.

A new stretch goal has been added at $42,250, the Infinite Tower. This is an endless dungeon that increases in difficulty each time you enter. Inside you'll find rare blueprints, materials, monsters and more. This tower will truly push your group to their limits!
E anche una specie di editor a 50K.
Peccato che sarà molto difficile arrivarci...
Uhm promette davvero bene!

Raggiunti i 20K...

So the card game is now 30k and the tower is 35k :sbav: (sulla tabella non si vedono ancora i cambiamenti).
Chissà induca qualche folgorato a prenderli!:asd:
Ancora dura ma forse è possibile prendere i 35k adesso!:D

E il gioco di carte è andato!:D
Dai che si arriva alla torre infinita! Donate!
$42,500: The Darkest Night
This stretch goal includes a story arc that brings a substantial amount of additional content to the game. During this portion of the game the sky has turned black and an undead army has been resurrected and begins to lay siege to your town.
It is up to you to build defenses, fight back against the scourge, and uncover the reason they have come back. This story has you not only defending your town but exploring an entirely new zone with all the content that provides including dungeons, aesthetics and more.
During your travels you'll encounter a new set of enemies, find lost blueprints and save new NPCs. With all this content whats not to love about this stretch goal!
Specifically speaking this update includes:
Additional defense mini-game where you must defend your town against raids.
1 additional zone that includes more dungeons, an abandoned town and a ruined castle to explore
Additional enemies (Bone Giant, Zombie Dragon "he wants your braaaaaiiiiinnssss", a unique boss, and more)
Multiple new buildings for your town
Additional armor and weapons for every class
This is something I've really wanted to do, not only because I think it would be extremely fun to play through but because it adds an additional layer of depth to the game with town defense. As you can tell in the pitch video the town has walls so why not put them to use! If you really want this stretch goal to happen, be sure to tell everyone you know about Arakion so together we can make this the best game possible!!

Nuovo strecht!
$50,000: Fates Change
This stretch goal introduces a lot of additional content into the game. During your adventures you will come to the aid of a cloaked stranger called Fate. She will transport you to a mysterious island that she believes could ultimately help you save Arakion.
As you explore the island not only will you encounter a large group of people with unique personalities, but you will also encounter Fae! No one on the island knows the grim reality currently facing Arakion or the fact the Fae have been extinct for hundreds of years.
You will come face to face with new enemies, explore an all new environment and unravel exactly what the island is.
Specifically speaking this update includes:
A new customization aspect added to the game called Fate Weaving
A new NPC called the Fate Weaver
1 new hero class that you all will help mold and create
1 new playable race
2 new pet archetypes, one which you will help decide
1 additional zone with all new aesthetics
1 new boss monster
I really like this stretch goal for two reasons. One it will give the players a glimpse into who the Fae are, why they were at war for millenia and what their ultimate fate may have been. The second is it adds a completeness to Arakion and makes it seem like a more immersive world by adding another viewpoint and facet to the story.

Hey Kickstarters,
In the second update of the day I wanted to take a second and give the people who will be working on the game a chance to introduce themselves and let you see the faces of who you'll be hearing from, from time to time. There will be an additional update in the future regarding a few more team members but I don't want to flood them all in one post.
Audrey Alexander :: Artist
Audrey is an avid artist, gamer and huge fan of the fantasy genre. She has had a hand in helping develop Arakion since it's inception. Audrey spends her free time drawing, painting, writing, reading and playing video games.
She has helped create smaller assets, writing lore as well as conceptualizing for Arakion. After Kickstarter she will be working full time on the world of Arakion as a general artist.
"Hey Kickstarters! I just want to say how awesome it is to begin working even more on this game! I am so excited to see how much support Arakion has received through Kickstarter and I cannot wait to step into the finished world and all that it has to offer. "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jared Cash :: Writer
Jared has been a writer for as long as he can remember. Co-founder of Room 12 Studios, Jared spends his time developing apps for iOS, imagining new worlds to inhabit, and playing video games with his kids. Some of Jared's work can be found on his blog: http://zepfhyr.com/blog/category/writing/
The criminal mastermind behind "iPredict - Fortune Teller" for iPhone and iPad, Jared has a twisted sense of humor and an occasional mean streak in his writing.
Don't worry. He probably won't kill your character.
Jared is a 10th-level Browncoat and does not eat babies, no matter what lies Wikipedia might contain.
"Hello, Kickstarter! I just wanted to quickly introduce myself and tell you how excited I am to start working on this project! I hope my brief bio gives you a little insight into how my mind works and hope you're all ready to join me on our journey into this exciting new world. I can't wait to start digging into your brains with my word sticks when the game goes live. Welcome to the world of Arakion!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Malcolm Neal :: 3D Artist
Malcolm is an artist currently working at Ubisoft Red Storm as an intern. Having worked and developed content with Chris on a variety of projects for over a year now he has an amazing understanding of the pipeline used to develop Arakion.
Malcolm spends most of his time developing whatever 3D asset he fancies that day and has created a few assets used in Arakion. As an avid League of Legends player and gamer he's always ready for a match against whoever wants to play.

Mike Skalandunas :: Composer
Born and raised in Connecticut, I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2011 with concentrations in film and game scoring.
After graduation, I immediately started an internship at FBPSound, a game audio firm based in Munich, Germany. My time there was spent building a sample library using unconventional sounds and instruments, along with synthesis, music editing and composition.
Since my internship I have worked exclusively on music and sound for games. The projects I have worked on range from 8bit zombie shooters to gorgeous RPGs, with each new game bringing a new set of challenges.

"Hey everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for supporting Arakion, and all of the wonderful feedback about what you've heard so far. As a gamer myself, I have to say I’m incredibly happy to see this project get funded, and I’m excited to take my first steps into the world of Arakion. Thanks again for helping bring Arakion one step closer to being a reality!"

Update sul battlemage:
With less than 24 hours to go Arakion is entering the final stages of the campaign! It has been an amazing ride so far so lets keep up the momentum! Tonight I'll be going in-depth into the skills of the Battlemage, this will be a two parter because it is crazy long and I need to spend more time on the art side of things before I show off a awe-inspiring Battlemage armor. I'm hoping I can have that update finished up by tomorrow but I can't guarantee that as Kickstarter requires a lot of time and energy on my part. Once Kickstarter is over I'll be giving you all graphical updates very regularly.
The reason why I've been wanting to do a really in-depth analysis of the Battlemage, and really any class in general, is I wanted to show you exactly what I meant when I said your character is your own and the customization allowed is immense. Now on to the update!
When first designing a mage class I wanted something more than just a glass cannon. As with all classes in Arakion the core belief is that the class should be more than just a role filler, it should really feel like there is a lot of depth to it and that your choices matter. I did however want to maintain the idea that you could create and mold the mage into a glass cannon if you chose too.
The first thing to do was to set up the skills, so let's dive a little bit into those. (Please note that with all skills I'll only be giving a few examples of unique upgrades)
Skills:
Arcane Bolt: A ranged damage skill that deals significant damage with the ability to seek enemies. Unique upgrades include:
Chaser: Grants the Arcane Bolt the ability to seek enemies around corners
Sticky Bomb: Gives Arcane Bolt the ability to latch onto walls exploding after a few seconds or turns
Elemental Wrath: A close range area of effect damage skill that deals significant damage with unique upgrades including:
Elemental Trap: If no enemy was hit, the energy is converted to a rune on the ground acting as a trap
Engulfed: Your wrath is so intense that all grid spaces around the party are effected (think of the combination of "Elemental Trap" plus "Engulfed" when you're surrounded.)
Divine Wrath: After using the Elemental Wrath skill you become engulfed in elemental armor, dealing damage to any enemy that touches you
Charged Strike: Charge your weapons with arcane energy unleashing it the next time you strike an enemy.
Phantom Energy: The pain felt from your first enemy is inflicted on every enemy in a row behind him (those hallway fights will never be the same)
Ghosted Strike: After striking with Charged Strike, a ghosted version of you will show up in the nearest available point, attacking enemies every turn
Divine Shielding: After hitting an enemy with a Charged Strike you become engulfed in arcane armor, shielding you from significant damage (Divine Wrath, Divine Blessing, Arcane Shield anyone?)
Arcane Shield: Shield your party to block incoming damage.
Wellspring: Give all other party members besides your Battlemage a small amount of energy
Transferred State: The party shares a shield instead of having individual shields
Arcane Cannon: Ever wanting to destroy things, the Battlemage adds an arcane cannon to the mix, constantly firing upon enemies until your shields are depleted
So as you can tell even with only a few upgrades shown, the customization is immense in how you choose to play your character. You can have a glass cannon Battlemage focusing on damage and destruction, or you can have a Battlemage that, while still doing significant damage, chooses more defensive buffs for his or her skills, the choice is up to you.
Pledge Updates
To end the night here I just wanted wanted make a few announcements regarding pledge updates. Because you guys have been awesome and pledged so much, I will be adding additional town aesthetics for all backers. As with the hats please let me know what you all would like to see in town as an aesthetic choice and I'll see about putting it in!!
Remember everyone we're in the final hours of the campaign, so if you really want to see those stretch goals happen, be sure to get your friends in on the action!!Stanotte quasi nessun backer...

Lo farà!:D Project Update #24: Woooooooo!!!!!!! and moving forward
Posted by Chris Taylor Like
Wow! That was incredibly amazing, I can't thank you guys enough for your support and enthusiasm throughout the campaign and especially in the final hours! This was just an amazing experience and I can't wait to start going full time into developing this game!!
Now that the campaign is wrapped up there are a few things I want to mention. First and foremost is that since we got so close to the $50,000 being met, and because so many people have said they're going to pledge through paypal, I'm going to go ahead and include Fates Change and Tablet Support in Arakion.
Moving forward I have a few options that I would like to go over. There will be a Paypal going up for sure, and while I'm going begin full time working on the game starting tomorrow, I will not receive the Kickstarter funding for about three weeks, so here are my choices.
I can setup a Paypal and link people to it, or I can setup a 21 day Indiegogo campaign that I can leave running so you all can see the additional funds incoming (Indiegogo allows people to pay with paypal). During the campaign I will only be setting it up and it will not be managed by myself but a team member. I want to stress that this means that whether I use Indiegogo or Paypal, the same amount of work will be done on Arakion.
Since you all have been the reason Arakion is even happening, I'll leave that decision up to you, so let me know if you prefer a pure Paypal approach or an Indiegogo approach.
Now, funding aside I will be updating Arakion one to two times a week throughout the year so you guys see exactly what the current state is as well as what is being worked on. I aim to be as open and transparent during the development of Arakion as possible so you all know that your funds are going to good use.
Before I get going here I just have to get it out. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and thank you all so much for being a part of Arakion, adding content to the game and just being amazing. Thank you a million times.
*EDIT* Since there was a little confusion. If I chose to use Indiegogo, I would still have a Paypal going up as well, so the choice is use both or just use Paypal.

Io 15$ alla fine glieli ho tirati. :O
Prendete Legend of Grimrock...

$60,000 - Winters Edge
As always this stretch goal introduces a lot of additional content into the game. As you adventure through Arakion you will come across a massive fortress that was seemingly built in the middle of nowhere. As you step foot inside the doors slam shut behind you begin to slowly freeze as the temperatures drop.
As you explore through the castle not only will you discover that the castle is not what it seems, but you will come across lost knowledge of ancient armor and fight monstrous beasts and even Ancients.
Specifically speaking this update includes:
A new armor type for each class (think thick armor built for war in winter)
An additional weapon type for each class
An entirely new zone (The Castle)
A new set of buildings for your town
A host of new enemies and bosses
New traits
Additional skill customizations for each class
An additional fate weaver type (Cold Steel) *more on this soon*
A story revolving around who the "Ancients" are
This stretch goal is awesome for a few reasons. The first is that it adds even more depth to each character, allowing for additional customizations across the board (housing, armor, weapons, skills, traits). It also introduces a pretty wondrous new area simply referred to as "The Castle". "It's bigger on the inside" as the saying goes. The Castle has all sorts of different environments that exist inside of it, you may reach the end of a stone hallway only to have it open up up into an snowy outdoor zone that's ripe for exploration!
The last thing of note that's very cool about this stretch goal is it gives you a glimpse into the "Ancients". A seemingly all powerful race that has had a hand in directing the events of Arakion since man first step foot on it.

Project Update #28: First post Kickstarter update!
Posted by Chris Taylor
The updates have finally started!
Before I get into this update, I want to apologize for the month delay in starting them. I have no excuses for it and you all should not have been left in the dark for so long. With that said I hope you can forgive the absence and get ready to start helping shape Arakion!
First I want to welcome the newest member to Arakion, Maus!
Maus is a generalist joining the team for the next year. He'll be coding, working on graphics and all the other fun stuff that the term generalist entails. So everyone give him a warm welcome.
Next up is our planned schedule
Part of the reason everyone was in the dark is that I was working long hours to make sure everything went smoothly from the start, and I didn't have time to do updates. Now that the gears are all running smoothly I can give a good estimate on dates you all my be interested in!
Schedule for the next year (these may change):
Card game release: March 1
Alpha players: June 14
Beta Players: September 13
Release: December 5
Going forward starting in December
Minor updates: 2 times a week (News and information)
Major updates: 2 times a month (Graphics and goodies)
Community created class
You have until Arakions first major update to input in what class you'd like to see as the community created class. There is a lot of great discussion already going on and I'm excited to see what you all choose for a class! After the first major update a poll will be held to allow further discussion refinement and decisions on what class you want in the game. After you choose the base class it will move on to skill, equipment and look discussion. I cant wait to see what you all input!
I'll end this minor update on a awesome note
A backer has generously given you all an additional content packs worth of donation. This will be discussed further in the next minor update as to what exactly it will entail but here is a short summary.
Winters Edge :: As you adventure through Arakion you will come across a massive fortress that was seemingly built in the middle of nowhere. As you step foot inside the doors slam shut behind you begin to slowly freeze as the temperatures drop.
Just a reminder, if I haven't added you to backer status yet on forums please remember to message me ON KICKSTARTER so I can get you added. If you have already messaged me I may have accidentally missed it so be sure to re-message me just in-case, thanks!
Looking forward to the next year with you all!

Update #30 · Jan. 26, 2013
Hey all, guys!
Jack’s here.
I read on the forum that some of you are concerned about the lack of updates and are asking if we’re still here. The answer is yes. We’re still here. But you’re right to be concerned: we are horribly late on the schedule for the updates.
Chris is working on everything: art, animation, coding, story, hiring new talents, training members... even accounting. Moreover he’s coordinating all of us. So he's been swamped with work and found no time for the updates.
But this is the last time! We promise: from now on you will get the updates.
I’ll be helping Chris and managing the updates from now on!!
First of all, let’s start rephrasing one of the things we said previously.
The schedule about updates will be like this:
at least one minor update every week
at least one major update every month
We sincerely hope to do more and all of the team would like to update you with everything we’re doing, but we want to make a promise we are sure we can fulfill.
Our priority is developing Arakion and we have to deal with “crunch times”, especially near the main milestone of the project.
During those kind of weeks we’ll be really too busy in making the game and we couldn’t assure you any updates. But it shouldn’t happen too often.
We had a crunch time just these weeks, during the creation of the core team, and we expect a couple more through the development of Arakion during milestones (card game release, alpha release, beta release etc...). Next time we’ll make you aware of what’s happening. And I’ll be personally available on the forum to let you know we’re fully committed to the project.
Soon we’ll publish other updates (don’t know in which order yet.).
A general update about the team: who of us is doing what.
The introduction of a new playable race!
Battlemage in action
The Unity 4.0 look overhaul
Thanks for the reading. Until next time!

Update #31 · Feb. 03, 2013
Hey, everyone!
This is Jack, writing for you a general update about the project. Finally! We originally planned on releasing the new race today but with the Superbowl going on we decided for a more general update.
First off, I want to let you know that the development of Arakion is on schedule and we’re full of things to share with you.
We’re a little behind with updates so let’s start with a general report on the main accomplishments we have achieved during these early months in full development. Throughout the months each team will present you with full in detail updates in each of these topics and more
Server:
Maus has been working hard on the Arakion server. You'll have the option to connect with the server on the card game or regular game (this is optional and not mandatory during gameplay). The server is being developed for a multitude of reasons. Here are just a few:
Option to store saved games for cross-platform access
Store information regarding the card game (cards bought, cards owned, win / loss, tournaments, etc etc...)
Achievements
Leaderboards and Ladders
Precursor for multiplayer in Arakion
Gameplay:
The team is dealing with playable classes and we want to thank the people who have contributed the discussion on the forum about this topic.
The Battlemage armor is completed (we plan to release a specific update about this) and we’re working on the customizations related to Fate Weaving. The stat features have been simplified and the character creation system has been overhauled (you now have complete control from weight to height, eye colour to skin colour). We’re evaluating some of the challenges we want to introduce in Arakion and we’re planning the flow of the game to grant the player a steady stream of gradually increasing difficulty. We have also added a new item to find, Dyes! You will be able to customize your characters look with dyes you find and pickup throughout the game, changing the colour of their armor, weapons, accessories, etc...
Art:
During these early months we’re we've been working on conceptualizing all the new stuff going in the game as well as creating reusable assets. Some of the elements we’re developing are:
Ancient technology concepts
Character Armor
Racial customizations
The new race
Placeables, like treasure chests etc.
Programming:
The main thing on this topic is the switch to Unity 4 and refining the code we have. We hope to tell you other details about this in a future update. The code is being written and polished!
Story update:
Although Arakion itself takes place during a desolated period in an area with few inhabitants, it's important to develop a very compelling backstory for the reason as to why things are the way the are.
With that in mind, we’re building concepts and ideas to design the villains, the characters and the main progression of the story. The setting and the lore of Arakion are expanding with new details. We had discussions on topics like “environment narrative” and things like that.
Here’s a list of what we dealt with:
Where‘s the conflict (of the story)?
How to channel the story and merge content with gameplay?
The main characters: who are they and what is compelling them to go forward (in the story)?
The ancients!
The villains: who are they, and why are they so hateful?
The War of the Skies: from the start to the end. What was the starting point? Who were the main NPC involved? And what about the final result?
The floating islands!
The races: societies, beliefs and relations.
Card game Update
The card game is well into development. We're aiming for a standalone version of the card game in March but our first priority is making sure Arakion stays on schedule, so that date could move. With that in mind once it's ready to start rolling out backers will be invited to beta (alpha is you're backer level is high enough) tests.
We want also to add a immersive story into the Card Game. It's important to us that you don't only enjoy the experience of the gameplay itself but the world in which it exists.
The card game will be built-in the main rpg game and we’re dealing with the possible connections of the stories between the card and the rpg game.
That’s all for now.
Until the next one!

The Gor! (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/403136)
Update #32 · Feb. 10, 2013
The final playable race!
It's Chris here ready to introduce you all to the final playable race in Arakion. After a lot of internal debate, conceptualizing and fussing we decided to make an entirely new race exclusive to the Arakion universe.
Without further anticipation here are some shots of the Gor! (right click copy image url if you cant click on it for full size)

http://www.christopherjtaylor.com/index/wp-content/gallery/onlive-comparisons/gor-female.jpg?259148412
Creating the Race
When creating the race we wanted to not only bring something new to Arakion (without borrowing from other mythology) but we also wanted to create something that people would be excited to play. After-all what's the point of a playable race if no one wants to conquer the world with them. With all of that in mind we created the Gor (working name), a cross between goat, ape and human.
The males average height is 5'3" while the females average height is 5'7". As you can see from the images they are extremely muscular and robust.
Battlemages also originate from the Gor society. The Gor make excellent Warriors and Battlemages.
A Brief History
**The history and story of this race is still a work in progress**
The Gor are an extremely stout and hardy race existing deep within the desolated forests of the Eastern Continent. Forged from millenia of war and hardships, they are the only race to survive on the Eastern Continent and not come under the rule, slavery and mutation of the Fae. The fact that they exist on the Eastern Continent means during your travels in Arakion you'll come across multiple groups of them.
They are in addition to everything else, the only race that wasn't involved in The War of the Skies. Both Fae and Human were wary of bringing them into the war, concerned by their battle prowess and uncertain allegiance.
The following is from Jacks desk
Gor Society
Gor have a religious society, happy with mystical matters and comfortable with unending rituals. Their existence is marked by a long list of rituals that guides them from birth to death, through every day of their life.
The Gor are conservative and conformist in the extreme. Their complex religion demands them to follow strict rules; furthermore Gor society supports the caste system and limits use of magic to lower castes.
Every caste has its own rituals and the entire society has major interconnected ceremonies, involving great season festivals.
The ruler of their nation claims to be a god, descendant of an ancient deity. The political and religious systems are inseparable: the ruler of the land is also the head of their main Temple.
Oh. Do you remember when I said that Gor society limits the use of magics? That’s because Gor law allows to practice magics only to battlemages! And Gor are the main race who can follow the path of the battlemage.
(BTW for now these are only setting laws, NOT gameplay rules. To be more clear: Gor characters can play any class and a character of any race can play a Battlemage.)
Battlemages have been employed as elite squadrons of the temples for centuries. They follow a strict code of behavior and they’re paragons of their race. Their training is ruthless. They have the respect of their society, standing out from every other caste.
Any Gor, of any caste, can try to become a battlemage. But battlemages can’t quit their training and failure for them means slavery or death. Usually the former leads quickly to the latter.
Gor and the other races
Fae military and cultural expansionism have threatened the way of living of the Gor for a very long time: that’s one of the main reasons the two races became deep seeded enemies. Gor look at the Human race with mistrust because human societies seem too chaotic, and in all of the years the Gor have fought the Fae, Humans have never once came to their aid.
Oh. Gor are a vegetarian race... did I mention that? So ents... beware!
*end of stuff from Jacks desk*
Next week we're going to go in depth on the Battlemage, with in game footage, screenshots, class mechanics and more!!
-Chris
Hey Kickstarterees,
Chris here for another Sunday update. There are a few things I want to discuss in this update including character creation, magic structure and backer rewards. I've been wanting to show you all the excellent combat system that Arakion has in place, but I'm going to have to put it off for another week. Everyone on the Arakion team is working hard squashing bugs that popped up after we upgraded our software systems (we upgraded two weeks ago, hence the lack of an update last week) so we haven't been able to record good combat footage to tease you, but you'll get it soon! Important: Backer Rewards!
The first thing I want to mention here is that we've received additional funding for another content pack. So all backers will be receiving an additional campaign for the main story arc. If there is something you would like to specifically see in the game feel free to discuss it below. I've been working hard with people interested in helping fund the game to get as much content as possible for you all.
The Card Game: we are all still working hard creating Arakion as well as the card game. The card game beta is still at least a month away but I just want to let everyone know that there will be exclusive beta (and alpha if you're in the category) access for each Kickstarter backer! Each Kickstarter backer additionally will receive in game funds as a special thank you for supporting Arakion.
Custom content backers: Now that we've finally gotten our software purchased, learned and the team is settled in, we'll be getting a hold of all the custom content backers soon! So get ready to create some awesome content for Arakion! Character Creation
The character creation system in Arakion has received a complete overhaul, and while we're not quite ready to show off all the cool new features that are involved I want to talk to you about them today.
When I originally created the prototype for Arakion I hearkened back to the old days of RPGs where you had preset faces that you would choose from. While this is very nostalgic, a lot of backers asked if we could implement a fully customize able system. So after a lot of tinkering and hard work, we now have a full customization system in place for Arakion.
Now since the shoulder up is the main area you'll be seeing throughout the game, we took special care to add in a lot of customize able features for each race. Here are just a few of the things each race has to offer
2 - 4 Unique features for each race (for example, Tree Ents have twig growth, Gor have distinct tattoos, Satyr have horns) 8+ unique hairs and 16+ generic hairs for each race / sex Hair Length Eye Colour 8+ unique noses, eyes, lips for each race / sex Facial Morphers for complete control of sizes and shape 8+ Distinct heads for each race Texture Blending to combine multiple facial looks (for example this gives you a gradient of age or makeup you can add rather than having "steps") Multiple jewelry and tattoo options Lots of hat/helmet/headgear options Voice selections with tone and pitch modifiers appropriate to each race and much more...
Our goal with Arakion is to create a deep RPG experience where you are in love with not only the story and game but every character you make, and having preset faces just wasn't cutting it. So I hope our overhaul has you all excited. Magic Structure
(A work in progress please add comments about the system below)
In Arakion, magic isn't structured in the same fashion as your typical RPG. There are 3 main types of magic in the game, light, dark and arcane (Good, Evil and Neutral). These magics act in a "rock paper scissors" fashion. The type of Magic each character leans towards is a reflection of their personality. We understand that no character is all good or all evil so we've added a good gradation when it comes to this approach.
There are also multiple minor magics in the game, these include your typical fire, earth, ice etc... These have no damage bearing on each other (water magic does not deal additional damage against fire) instead each element adds a specific type of damage to your skills or weapons. For instance fire magic adds a damage over time effect while ice adds a freeze effect.
So what does this all mean? Well what this ends up doing is creating some very cool possibilities for each character. Keeping with the fire example, lets say one of your characters is an evil S.O.B and has been heartless the whole game. His skills and equipment will reflect that. If he has a "Fire Sword" that suddenly becomes a Hellfire Sword gaining a darker aura and dealing additional damage to light based enemies.
The reason why we decided on this sort of structure is so that each decision you make has just a little more impact on how your character plays. Inner Party Dialogue and Relationships
So this is something very cool and I'm excited about that we're currently implementing in Arakion. Instead of being non moving heads at the bottom of the screen, each character in the party will be able to look at, talk to each other, point things out during your adventure and even build relationships with one another! A little example...
Lets say your party comes upon a locked chest. This party happens to have a wary seeker and a overconfident warrior.
Seeker: This chest... looks trapped...
Warrior: Whaturya doin waitin for it there r' goodies inside! Traps be damned -lets force er' open!
Seeker: Warrior, you're going to get us all killed! I advise we either move on, or attempt to disarm it.
Warrior: You th' eart uva pansy!
Player has the warrior force open the chest, a trap is set off damaging the Seeker.
Seeker: ARGH!!
Warrior (laughing hysterically): oops... Ahhh HAHAHAHA
Seeker: One of these nights, when you're sleeping I am going to FINISH YOU!!!!!
Warrior: BAH HAHA HAHA, did ya see tha' I open th' chest and u're all POOF... Sizzle!!! Ahhhhhhhh HAHAHA
Seeker: sigh...
So throughout your adventures in Arakion you'll come across a lot of situations where your characters dialogue is pertinent and they may have different opinions regarding the situation to help you through it. Even if you're wandering around they could simply strike up a conversation with one another. Each characters personality is based off traits, class and race. A Final Note
I want to just to let everyone once again know how grateful I am for the opportunity of a lifetime you have given me. Every team member is working hard to make sure we make something special and unforgettable.
Two updates next week, the first regarding the software we're using the second will (hopefully) be the combat update. As always if you have any ideas or comments please add them below!
Until next time,
Chris Taylor

Ok, finito di vedere il video.
Notevole, davvero notevole.

Hey guys!
Chris here first, just introducing all of our new team members. I also want to quickly nudge in here that we're on time with production and we'll be launching alpha in July and beta a couple of months after! I'll have a more exact date soon. On to the new team members!
Andrew (Coder): He is Arakion's experienced new lead coder. He's working on shoring up all our systems and creating everything we need moving into alpha testing.
"Greetings & such. I'm Andrew. I'm coding the guts of a game I love in a language I love in an engine I love so I'm gonna get right back to that."
Periyanna (Coder): Peri is a great coder who has taken over lead on the card game.
"Hi Guys, I am Prasanna I am working on the card game logic and multiplayer, I love challenges, I love coding , and I am enjoying every bit of it
Nikki (Intern Artist): Currently working on character and pet concept art
Drew (Level Design): Developing ideas, puzzles and layouts for tons of new levels for everyone to enjoy.
"Hello all, I'm Drew, not to be confused with Andrew. I'm working on level design and really pushing myself and the team to create great content. Hoping to stump a few of you with my puzzles."
----
Jack's here now for the introduction of a new type of updates: the "flash updates"
We’re striving to write new updates every week to keep you posted, and we hope you enjoyed the last ones.
But long posts are time consuming and we need time to develop the game, so let’s try out this new “revolving” template for quick updates.
Here’s how the revolving method works:
This first time we’re going to post a complete report for every section involved in the development. For future updates we plan to split the updates into sections and post about one section at a time. There are four sections, so we hope to update you monthly about every one of them. They are: Art & Animation, Story & Level Design, Coding & Testing, and Game Design.
Here we go: the first flash update about the Arakion team!
Story & Setting (from Jack):
Creating concepts for the Darkest Night setting
Writing and choosing concepts to implement enemies to be faced in The Darkest Night
Editing and completing the Floating Islands concepts
Editing and completing the Ancients concept
Editing and completing the main antagonist
Designing primary character dialogue structures based on character personalities
Coding (from Maus, Acade, Periyanna and Chris):
Working on the database structure
Creating custom tools needed to develop the game
Developing the network capabilities for card game and Arakion multiplayer
Refining current code within the game
Refining the GUI System
Optimizing the path finding system
Art (Chris, Drew, Audrey and the rest of the art team)
Temple Region
Forest Region
Animation from Mixamo
Multiple prop and character creations
Working towards finalizing the alpha levels
Game Design (Chris)
Restructured the stat system
Gor are no longer a playable race, being replaced with a yet to be released race
Restructured the UI (it is now a diagetic UI)
Structuring DLC and Expansion systems
Fleshing out the final character design systems
We will send you more of these flash updates just to let you know what’s going on.
Any feedback is welcome, you may post your comments here or on the Arakion forum.
See you soon!

Back in the community & alpha
Update #37 · May 20, 2013
I'm back on the forums, we've finally got good chunks of the game and graphics implemented and it's moving into alpha in July with beta to follow shortly. So now I have a some free time to get back to the community! Up to this point the team has spent every working hour implementing and creating all the systems that are going into Arakion and none of us have had very much time to spare which is the reasoning for Jack being on the forums trying to moderate.
I've already apologized before but I apologize again, implementing the base systems to create a great game for all of us to play has been extremely hard work. While I'm not happy that it took so much time away from the community and may have hurt our image we laser focused on the game so that it would be an amazing experience. We aren't aiming for mediocre or good we're aiming for great cause you deserve no less.
Lets first talk about Alpha and what's going to be in it.
All Kickstarter backers will be able to join alpha a 2-5 weeks after initial release. For the initial release only people in the tiers that have alpha status will be able to join.
A few questions that people have asked that I'd like to answer first.
Will alpha be on steam?
While steam has been releasing stuff that's in alpha for whatever reason. We don't plan on releasing alpha on steam as we will be rapidly implementing changes throughout. Beta may be on steam.
Why haven't we seen screenshots?!
We want the graphics closer to finished before we start releasing stuff. We'll begin releasing media closer to alpha
Will everyone get to play alpha?
As stated above as a bonus for your patience we'll be allowing everyone into alpha mid to late alpha.
When will the alpha be released?
We're aiming for an early July release (July 2nd) but it may not release until late July. So just assume sometime in July.
What's the benefit of playing alpha?
Everyone benefits from playing in alpha, as the gamer you will get to play and help define the game. Making notes and letting us know what you do and don't like. You'll also get to play levels that may not make the final game or help define levels as they mold and change. It helps us because we get vital information from you to help make the game great.
So what's actually in the alpha?
I want to go through a few important points of interest that are in the alpha.
Alpha Classes:
Monk :: Warrior :: Community Decided
We're wanting to get the community involved again so we'll let the community decide on the third class they'd like to see in the alpha. It can be any of the currently mentioned classes and we'll hold a poll on it later this week.
Alpha Races:
Human :: Ent :: Satyr
Our reasoning for these three, is that outside of the Gor (which are no longer playable) they are the most complete, our character setups take a significant amount of time to layout because of our pipeline but they look fantastic in game.
Levels:
4-5 Levels
In the alpha initial release you'll be able to play up to the point you acquire your town. This should be a good couple hours of gameplay. You can expect some bugs and missing graphics but for the most part it should give you a good sense of what you'll be expecting as the game moves forward in development.
Pets:
Full range of pets
Character Customization
Fully Implemented!
GUI
This one may take a small bit of adjustment for people. We have implemented a system that doesn't use bars or numbers but is visually representative. This means that when you're beating up on an enemy you wont see a health bar telling you how close he is to dead, but you'll have to look for visual cues. This means if you're fighting a human, they'll be bloody broken and beat down with dented armor and blood running down their body. We've implemented a system that is more visually engaging because we felt the immersion would be deeper. The same goes across the board for all the GUI systems, there is very little text to read and everything is in a representative system.
Again our main reasoning for this is we want people to feel like their apart of the world and actually adventuring, seeing numbers and text all over the place reminding you your in a game just wasn't what we were aiming for.
Updating the alpha:
We'll be releasing alpha updates sporadically as we find bugs or errors. Major updates (levels, classes, races) will be released every couple weeks.
What's after the alpha?
Naturally the beta will be after the alpha. We'll be moving into beta 2-3 months after alpha. While beta will not be the whole game it will be about half of it.
What wont be in initial release?
Cinematics and a lot of animations will be filler.
As a final note you can now expect me to respond and post on the forums regularly, as stated above we have a lot of systems implemented and our team is working hard to make everyone a great game to play, now that things are at a better place and I'm not working 24/7 I can relax a little and get involved with the community.
With that said if you have any questions about what will and will not be in the alpha feel free to discuss on here or in the forums and I'll try to answer everything the best I can.
Look forward to seeing everyone in the alpha!!
Chris Taylor
Oh... we also have multiplayer...
It's completely separate from singleplayerDa notare:
"Will everyone get to play alpha?
As stated above as a bonus for your patience we'll be allowing everyone into alpha mid to late alpha."

Alpha Classes
Update #39
Chris here again,
For those of you that have been reading up you should know by now that we will only have three classes in alpha as well as the potential for only 3-4 throughout most if not all of beta. The reasoning for this is that each class is so highly customize-able and extensive to build, we need to focus on making sure the classes are done properly and balanced well before we move on to new ones.
What each class consists of:
20-40 unique weapon models and skins
2-4 complete armor sets fully customizeable
Comprehensive particle and animation system customized for each class
4 skills each with their own fleshed out set of customizations
A full set of traits that are class dependent
Housing attachments that are unique to each class
etc...
As has been stated before we have two guaranteed classes that are in alpha, this is the Monk and the Warrior.
Why were these chosen?
These were chosen because they both represent the very base functionality of what we want in the game with both their skills and play style. They allow for the full range of healing, skill/melee/ranged damaging, tanking, support etc... They also represent the backbone of the party, most groups will have one or the other in regards to the warrior or monk.
So moving into alpha we have decided to allow the backers to pick what the final class in the alpha will be. The choices are as follows.
Battlemage (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/322997)
Seeker (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/320809)
Alchemist (http://www.christopherjtaylor.com/arakion/Arakion/alchemist.html)
Each class has it's perks and everyone on the team is rooting for their own specific one so head over to the forums and make your voice heard. They're all fantastic in the prototyping stage but only one will make it to alpha!
You can find the poll here (http://arakion.com/forums/discussion/37/final-in-alpha-class-vote#Item_1)!

Altro update: Contest: Alpha and more! (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/517294)
As many of you know “Stage 1 Alpha” is right around the corner (we’re still on track for a late July release), and with that in mind we’d like to give you the opportunity to join in at the ground floor.
Who better to get involved with the Alpha than all of you? Which is why we have decided to create a System to not only grant you early access but also other goodies such as in game jazz! All you have to do is be involved in the Arakion community.
So what exactly is this system Chris?
Strictly speaking, this “Karma System” grants access to alpha and beta builds of the game as they are released (if you don’t already have it) as well as some other cool rewards.
How do I get these rewards you speak of?
It’s simple, you earn “Karma”. We’ll be posting questions on the forums, the first three people to answer the questions right get 30, 20, and 15 points respectively, you can also earn Karma in other ways such as posting comments and being active (we’re currently fine tuning these settings). In turn you’ll be able to use the Karma in our “Karma Store” (coming soon) and purchase things such as in game items (dyes, hats, outfits), early access (again provided you don’t already have it) and more!
You can view your current Karma by simply going to your user page.
Any rules?
The only rule is you have to be a backer for early access!
The first question has just been posted and you can find it on the forums! We’ll be posting questions regularly and remember you can also earn Karma by simply participating on the forums!

Update 43, I'm running out of titles. (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/555945)Hey everyone,
A brief update today, there will be a very in-depth one Saturday. We have good news and we have bad news. To get the bad news out of the way we’re delaying alpha release for a few weeks to sort out some bugs. Namely we need to finish our update system. As it stands right now we have to send you the entire game every time we update and we update about three times a week. This is too much of a load for our system to handle. With that in mind we’re creating a system that will allow us to patch (unity can’t natively patch) and it should be ready to go shortly.
Now on to the good news. Although it was delayed the actual state of the game is alpha ready, as soon as the patcher system is finished we’ll be sending out the first alpha versions. I’m not going to set a date because it’s unfair to all of you but the patcher system is all that stands in the way at this point. So once it’s ready you’ll know. We’ve added tons of new features into the game including an all new discovery and invention system.
Here is a brief modified list of the most recent changes
Internal Changelog
Prototype 0.1.3
General
Added difficulty (easy): Easy mode allows for health regen but does not allow for most achievements. Testers were complaining the game was too hard, silly testers.
Added achievements, these unlock multiple aesthetic items within the game.
Increased material count on tutorial area (you can actually build your weapons in level 1 now)
Increased general substance computation time by 80%
Decreased general draw calls
Finalized the atmosphere system and secondary planet.
Prototyping started on town dungeon creation
Map phase 1 implemented
Temporarily removed Sappling and Satyr from the game will reemploy late alpha.
Temporarily employed Yin.
Temporarily removed turn based gameplay, will reemploy it in beta.
Added “permanent” scaring upon death. In order to remove you need to go to the tattoo artist in town. Added 16 facial and scars per race and sex. Scars are a consequence of taking too much damage or dying
Added Formations.
Started working on the town defense minigame.
Added the first post town area. Enjoy.
Implemented dynamic texture resizing within substances, this allows for someone with a bad computer to get nearly the same quality experience as someone with a good computer in regards to the texture.
Added the black, white and gray moral system. Weapon choices and town choices are affected by this
Re-implemented the Warrior. Issues have been resolved.
Character Creation
Final character creation system has been decided upon, complete overhaul required. This is our final overhaul as to much time has been spent on it up to this point.
Implemented base functionality of new system, able to pick race and class
Began implementing the mesh modification system, you can view it by clicking the top right box.
Added 30 tattoos race / sex dependent.
Discovery System
The discovery system has been implemented. With this you’re given the tools to record the things you see in your environment and apply them to your town as well as gain information about enemies.
Added in the basic functionality, it currently works with banners, torches, formations and enemies.
Added 50 banner discoveries.
Added 15 torch discoveries.
Added 16 formations
Formations:
Prototype formations implemented
Formations represent how your party is setup on the grid.Formations add additional stats or benefits based on the formation used.
16 current formations in the game
Players start with 4 formations the rest are discovered or earned through achievements
Unit size within the formation ranges from 2 to 4, Ents are the only player class above 2.
Added formation size to all enemies.
Invention System
This is still in early phase testing. It will be used to create additional items for your town. You can test the system by going to the inventors hut. We will need to update the discovery system to fully implement this.
Substances
Fixed snow errors within the environment substance • Increased substance calculation speed by an average of 80%
Fixed diffuse mapping errors caused by facial scaring.
Implemented the dynamic texture sizing system.
Finalized the automated character texturing alpha 1 system.
Town
Added customizable banners. Patterns and symbols are unlocked through the discovery and achievements.
Fixed a bug causing town substances to reset
Traits
New Champions Mark: This is a character creation trait that replaces your health indicator from the necklace to head tattoos. Tattoos glow red, orange and green to indicate health level. Like all traits this is permanent so make sure you want it if you choose it.
Standard Bearer: Fixed numerical error causing player to gain 10 endurance
UI
Began the process of minimalizing the UI with the goal to simply show information needed.
That’s it for today expect a major update Saturday, with graphics (hopefully)! Oh, we’re still putting up questions on the forum. If you don’t have early alpha access it’s one way to earn it!
-Chris
In the spirit of Kickstarter I'm going to plug some that I think deserve a look. For this update I'm plugging Space Shock (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/858695532/space-shock-0) . Seems like a high quality game that deserves some love.

Graphics! (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/565709)Hey everyone,
Today is an extra awesome Kickstarter update because we are releasing the first images of Arakion (post Kickstarter). I wanted all of you to see Arakion before anyone else. These are shots from the first level. As always right click copy url or save as to see full size. So without further delay!

http://www.christopherjtaylor.com/arakion/Kickstarter%20Images/Arakion_SS_2.jpg
http://www.christopherjtaylor.com/arakion/Kickstarter%20Images/Arakion_SS_3.jpg
http://www.christopherjtaylor.com/arakion/Kickstarter%20Images/Arakion_SS_4.jpg
About the images:
In the first image you can see a banner off to the right. In our discovery system, you'll be able to find things like these, snap images of them and use them in your town. With that banner specifically you'll be able to unlock the design, logo, trim and background for use. But it's not just limited to banners, you'll be able to record all kinds of things throughout your adventures and use them in town!
The GUI is turned off because it's in the middle of a Revamp.
Some notes:
We're still implementing the patcher system for the alpha. Will update as soon as more is finished.
The Alpha races will likely be Yin and Human, although that isn't finalized.
We have some big updates planned for you guys so stay tuned
Other than that, I don't want to make this update lengthy I just wanted to let you guys enjoy some Arakion graphics. Have a great Saturday!

Update at last! (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/753619)Hey Everyone,
I want to thank everyone for their patience. Our few initial closed alpha testers discovered a host of issues we hadn’t encountered and we have been resolving them. Most of them have been resolved so we are officially close to launching open alpha.
I’m going to answer a few questions people having been asking both privately and publicly.
What is taking so long?
Short answer: Bugs and we want your first impression to be “Whoa F’N AWESOME!!” not “Meh…”
Long answer: Our plan is to release a series of games and we want to do it right the first time not half-ass it and constantly rework it. With that in mind we built an extremely robust infrastructure inside of Unity. The downside to this is we’re a small team making a massive role-playing world and system, after just a few alpha players were in issues started arising that had to be resolved. So this time around we’re making sure everything is tip-top as to not encounter that again
The coding for our core infrastructure is finished and with early alpha testers nearly bug free (that’s not to say bugs won’t pop up) we are close. Our school of thought when developing Arakion is quality above all else, when you commit halfway you get M&M X (my saves broke three times “playing” this) instead of Xeen.
When will I be let in?
I’m feeling a little bit like “South Park: The Stick of Truth” when I say this but soon. We have some minor things left to do before open alpha and everyone will be in.
What stage is alpha in?
Alpha 1
Why haven’t you posted a ton of videos and images?
We’re constantly rehashing overviewing and editing our graphics, a lot of stuff changes relatively often and I personally don’t like posting stuff until it’s finalized.
Updates for Alpha 1:
We scaled down the initial alpha to two levels, this is about 3-4 hours of gameplay. We did this so we could focus more on mechanics/balancing/bugs and less on level issues when everyone floods in. After the initial release our goal is to add a level every week or so with the town added in the first month to month and a half.
We've been finalizing our rendering system to be more up to date with modern graphics. We’re using a combination of IBL,PBL and Unity’s built in system now
We overhauled a lot of our scripts in order to be more mod tool friendly (modding is very important for us as we think it will keep the game alive) -Humans :: Warrior :: Monks :: Seeker are all playable and working. Trying to get Battlemage in before the launch.
We're developing a resource of information so you'll be able to learn all about classes/maps/story/mechanics etc... once you start playing.
The core gameplay and code is completely finished so at this point it's all about adding content and optimizing for us which is the fantastic news!
Jack's Blurb
Hey all,
I just want to let you know that I'm following the threads on the forum and the comments here on kickstarter.
Open alpha is taking longer than expected, but I hope you can appreciate our decision to focus on quality.
Alas I can’t say too much about the story or writing of Arakion, mainly because *spoiler alert*. One of our plans is to create a public wiki to share and discuss with you some setting/content/general awesomeness, but not yet, alpha is the current priority!
We have loved your participation so far and I want to personally thank all the backers who continue to join us on the forum. In our vision a project like this needs support from the community, any kind of support such as your feedback and your patience.
We're really looking forward to hearing your opinions once you crack open alpha.
Here is a quick screenshot of an enemy test, testing out a few quadrupeds we picked up as well as enemy grouping and placement.

Update #50 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/847672)Small update
Hey Everyone I'm going to post a short and sweet update today,
Some real life / build issues came up before launch and I want to remind everyone that the game is currently 5 months delayed (sorry about that). We take the delay seriously and are working hard to get the game out.
We are close to release at this point but I'm not going to set a date, it is simply "soon" however we'll update our Youtube channel with new videos so you can see all the progress. At the moment it's a technical build issue happening.
@PaulsCode a community member has offered to help, so we'll get him in on the game, have him take a look at it and hopefully he can post an update to you guys.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

It always helps to get a pair of fresh eyes.
