HELP!!! formattazione impossibile??

salve ragazzi, spero che qualcuno di voi possa aiutarmi
mio fratello mi ha portato un HD esterno WD 320 che mi risulta impossibile da formattare. mi spiego:
da gestione disco l'unità risulta di tipo RAW e necessita di formattazione, ma non so come cavolo è possibile il disco risulta write protected e se provo a formattare mi dice che il disco è protetto da scrittura.

come faccio ad azzerarlo completamente e a formattarlo come hd esterno?? il suo utilizzo è solo archiviazione

Controlla se per caso l'hard disk esterno ha un qualche bottoncino ho switch che attiva questa protezione anche se ne dubito.

stavo provando con partition master ma è la stessa storia, dopo provo quello che mi hai consigliato, speriam;) :stordita:

aggiornamento, sono riuscito a fare una formattazione ntfs dell'unità su un'altro pc che utilizza win xp e da li l'unità viene normalmente riconosciuta e ci posso trasferire dati. se però l'unità la attacco al portatile dove ho installato win 7 nè la riconosce nè mi dà la possibilità di fare nulla perchè dice che è protetto da scrittura.

ricapitolando se avete un problema di read-only sul vostro hd esterno per riacquistare i privilegi fate così
I got this problem with a drive is W7 Ultimate fully updated on 07/08/2010 and the above solution worked fine and didn't involve registry editing.

The solution my friend is "DiskPart".

Open a command prompt window (start –> run –> type in the run window cmd

In the command prompt type "diskpart" Type "list volume" this will list all the drives on your computer and give them all volume numbers.

Next you want diskpart to set focus on the write protected drive "select volume #" which ever volume is the disk in question.

Now enter "attributes disk clear readonly" and then type "attributes volume clear readonly"

Check the drive in question, you should now be able to access the disk with full permissions.
