Ho un filmato che mi viene indicato così:

Quando lo apro con totem, gnome-mplayer e vlc ho problemi di riproduzione a scatti. L'audio è ok.

Dato per scontato che il filmato sia integro, ti consiglio di provare ad abilitare l'accelerazione hw via vdpau e vedere se le cose migliorano.

i log sono così lunghi che non ho voglia di leggerli.
su una 9300 ge con 256 MB di vram, scrauso core duo amd e vdpau attivo, scorrono serenamente 1080p da 20 giga.

Presumo si debbano installare le librerie vdpau e mplayer-vdpau (non so se quello nei repo ufficiali sia compilato con il supporto a vdpau). Una volta fatto, basta impostare mplayer per usare l'uscita video e i codecs di vdpau e il gioco è fatto.

siamo sicuri che funziona?
un 1080p da anche 20 giga (banda passate di 20-30 MB/s) deve far lavorare il processore a non più del 10% e senza scatti.

Dici bene, zephyr, tanto più che, mi par ubuntu, offra proprio gli nvidia-cuda, quindi driver differenziati per le schede della serie cuda (molto recenti, peraltro). I 96xx sono anche detti legacy-driver.:)
E' meglio se ti installi gli ultimi driver disponibili, gianluca...;)

Come hai abilitato vdpau esattamente? Oltre all'uscita video devi specificare i suoi codecs. Hai controllato l'uso della CPU con e senza vdpau?

Riguardo ai codec non ho dovuto scegliere nulla.

DEVI scegliere, ed anzi forzare la scelta su quelli usati da vdpau. Prova da riga di comando, prima mplayer senza argomenti e con l'uscita video di default e poi con questa, che abilita vdpau nel modo giusto:


mplayer -vo vdpau -vc ffmpeg12vdpau,ffwmv3vdpau,ffvc1vdpau,ffh264vdpau,ffodivxvdpau, filmato.mkv


Confronta l'uso della cpu in entrambi i casi. Poi cerca in gnome mplayer un box dove passare gli argomenti a mplayer e inserisci "-vc ffmpeg12vdpau,ffwmv3vdpau,ffvc1vdpau,ffh264vdpau,ffodivxvdpau," Comprensivo di virgola finale.

Ho aggiornato il sistema e adesso con vdpau non si vedono le immagini. Si sente solo l'audio.

Ecco il problema. Controlla che versione di libvdpau hai installato e che in /usr/lib ci sia la libreria in questione.

Se non sai che pacchetto dovrebbe contenerla, controlla con:
dpkg -l | grep vdpau

Dovrebbe darti diversi pacchetti. Controlla i files presenti in ognuno di loro, finchè non individui quello che contiene libvdpau.so.1. Il comando è questo:

dpkg -L nomepacchetto

:eek: .....Adesso invece va molto meglio.....decisamente! cpu con i due core al 40%
Credo che il problema sia stato l'ultima carrellata di aggiornamenti...invatti ho le stampe dei documenti che vanno per i cavoli loro, pdf rallentati, mancanza della suddetta libreria.....mi sa tanto che questa distro verrà presto rimpiazzata da Debian.

.......Adesso ho cambiato distro ed uso una debian 6.
I pacchetti nvidia sono un po diversi da Ubuntu. Ho dinuovo il problema di non vedere il video.
Vi posto quello che mi dice da terminale:
