Problemi di boot in karmick

Per qualche strano motivo ubuntu 9.10 tra il bootloader e la schermata di bootsplash di gnome mi chiede con una schermata testuale nomi e password di login...
Passati alcuni minuti il boot procede regolarmente e mi apre ubuntu.
Il problema a questo punto è che non mi riconosce il modem usb e vede solo una memoria usb.

Un altro fatto importante è che questo problema si presenta solo se la chiavetta Onda mt503hs è inserita dall'avvio... ma se non la inserisco in avvio non funziona...

Sono disperato e medito di togliere ubuntu karmic... con ubuntu 9.04 non avevo problemi.

:( No... ho solo installato "startup manager".
Lo fa solo con la chiavetta internet collegata in avvio, però devo lasciarla inserita o non me la riconosce.

La cosa strana è che chiede i loghin di ubuntu, poi rimane in attesa di un comando testuale e dopo un po' avvia, ma umtsmon non riconosce la chiavetta che non fa lo switch tra memoria e modem.

fai così: elimina startup manager:

sudo apt-get purge startupmanager (o startup-manager o quello che è)

dopo reinstalla grub:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall grub2

così se la colpa è di startupmanager si risolve.

Se così non dovesse andare, metti il bootloader di jaunty al posto di quello di karmc:

sudo apt-get install grub-pc (se non sbaglio)

Ho fatto come mi ha deto chianchieri, sembra fosse proprio un problema di startup manager.
Sembra inoltre che la chiavetta la riconosca sì, ma dopo circa un minuto se collegata non in avvio
