Suse non parte, forse colpa driver ATI

Salve, ieri dopo un aggiornamento del kernel (mi pare) ho notato che, anche se i driver ati erano installati (e tutto funzionava correttamente fino al giorno prima), muovendo o scorrendo il contenuto delle finestre andava tutto a scatti. Cosi ho reinstallato i driver ATI, ma si vede che avrò combinato qualche casino, infatti ora suse 11.1 nn parte...carica, ma poi schermata nera!

Ho provato la modalità FileSafe, ma il risultato è lo stesso....ho inserito il cd di suse, riparando i pacchetti installati, ma nada.....non riesco neppure ad avviare suse solo da terminale, cosi da poter cancellare i driver ati e riprovare....come posso fare???

eh nn sò a che punto si ferma...perchè prima esce la schermata di caricamento di suse...e poi dopo, quando dovrebbe comparire il desktop, esce una schermata nera.....

premo ctrl-alt-F1 in continuazione, ma nn riesco ad accedere alla consol...come se nn premessi quella combinazione di tasti....

il runlevel 1 come lo imposto?

riuscissi ad accedere alla shell, potrei provare a fare qualcosa..

Che versione del Kernel hai? se si parla del 2.6.31 il problema potrebbe essere dovuto al KMS attivato per le schede ATI.

Io ho avuto problemi in questo senso(molti ne hanno avuti)... ho risolto disabilitando il KMS aggiungendo questo parametro al caricamento del kernel in GRUB:

radeon.modeset=0

ho il kernel pae ultima versione....cmq posso solo vedere la schermata iniziale di grub, ho aggiunto 1, S e il comando che mi hai dato, ma nulla...sempre schermata nera...

Il file di configurazione di grub nn posso modificarlo

- Xorg -configure
- anche yast dovrebbe poterlo fare

o editare il file /etc/X11/xorg.conf e modificare il driver

niente..i primi 2 comandi non esistono...i pacchetti ati non sono presenti (ho fatto la ricerca con rpm -qa ecc), ho aperto yast ma se vado nella sezione schermo mi diventa tutto nero...

non sò che fare...

no nn adava nulla...cmq ho reinstallato suse...ora devo mettere i driver, speriamo che vada tutto bene...questo è xorg.conf subito dopo l'installazione:
