NIKKOR 55mm 1:1.2 type V
This lens is the successor of the first fast normal lens for the Nikon-F series, the Nikkor 1.4/5.8 cm, of which 39,000 were build from October 1959 till January 1962. The 1.2/55 mm lens was introduced in December 1965. There is a prototype known with the serial number 970103. A faster lens for the F-series has never been produced. The production of the lens terminated in April 1978, although the lens was shown in price lists until the end of 1979. The lens was succeeded by the Nikkor 1.2/50 mm.
