Annunciato il capitolo esclusiva Wii del brand Dead Space..

http://www.everyeye.it/wii/notizia.asp?id=53472&no_interstitial=1

Intervista:

A portion of an MTV interview with Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer…

MTV Multiplayer: “Dead Space Extraction” has been announced as a first-person addition to the Dead Space franchise. I understand that that means the game will be on-rails, as opposed to being a standard first-person shooter, but can you clarify exactly what kind of game this is and how we’ll be playing it?

Papoutsis: “Dead Space Extraction” is a Guided First Person Experience. The player will be presented with many choices as they play the game, ranging from which path they wish to explore to maneuvering in Zero-G. The game is being developed from the ground up to leverage the unique controls of the Nintendo Wii. Players will use their Wii Remote to aim and dismember oncoming enemies as well as use other mechanics from “Dead Space” such as Stasis and Telekinesis to name a few. When we started designing Extraction, it was important to us to make sure the Controls on the Wii felt natural and made sense. Having the use of motion controls opened up a lot of interesting possibilities for the game that we hope players will enjoy.

MTV Multiplayer: What kind of support does Dead Space Extraction have for multiple players?

Papoutsis: One of my favorite new features in Extraction is our Co-Op play. Say you are playing the story mode at home and a friend drops by, with the push of a button on your second Wii Remote your friend can jump in with you and start blasting apart Necromoprhs.

It is very important to us that people can play with their friends. Our game offers players a lot of strategy options, one person can focus on Dismemberment while the other is using Stasis to slow down enemies for example. So far when we play we are having a great time figuring out what the best strategy to use is on our variety of enemies and encounters.

Another important goal for us is to make sure that both players always feel engaged, challenged and are using their skills in the game. We want player 2 to feel just as involved and important as player 1 throughout the game.

gonintendo:

I told you some good news may come from EA at the 2009 Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference! While attending, Electronic Arts COO John Pleasants confirmed that the upcoming Dead Space: Extraction was going to feature support for the Wii MotionPlus peripheral. No word on how the device will enhance the experience…and I’m left with my mind boggled. The MotionPlus isn’t going to make IR shoot any more accurate…so what will it do?

A portion of a DeadSpaceHorror interview with Dead Space director Glen Schofield…

dsH: Recently, Dead Space Extraction for Wii has been announced. Do you plan to integrate any new features? Will map sizes and number of enemies have to be reduced compared to Dead Space? Will it still be physics heavy?

Glen: You should see it. It looks fantastic on the Wii. In my opinion (and others) its one of the best looking games so far on the Wii. Obviously we will make a couple compromises but in other ways we can add more, especially taking advantage of the Wii controllers. There are new enemies, characters, story, puzzles, co-op and weapons. And yes, physics and even zero-g play a huge part in the game.

dsH: Can we expect it to look as good as the recently shown footage of Dead Space running on the original Xbox?

Glen: Better, I think. It really looks freakin great. I kid you not.

Dead Space Extraction will not be using Wii MotionPlus, and the comment made yesterday is merely misinterpretation. With the game essentially taking on the other "light gun" classics on Wii such as Umbrella Chronicles and the more recent House of the Dead: Overkill, the focus is on the system's IR functionality, and we'd assume EA went without MotionPlus because, quite frankly, it just isn't needed in this type of title.

The following post is from Antony Johnston’s blog…

I’ve been informed that I can officially announce what a few people already guessed — I’m scripting DEAD SPACE: EXTRACTION, the new game for the Wii.

Obviously what I can’t do is go into any detail yet. But I can say the following:

# I’ve seen the game, and it looks incredible for the Wii;
# The voice cast is great, including a couple of names you’ll recognise;
# The story is strong, with a big emphasis on character;
# I think the on-rails-haters will be pleasantly surprised at how much gameplay variety has been packed in.

That’s all I can say for now, but there’ll be plenty more closer to release.

Previously, Antony Johnston has been involved with the Dead Space comic. He seems pretty pumped for the game!

Apparently, while using the rivet gun, you need to hold the Wiimote to make the rivet blade that is fired perpendicular to the limb you are looking to dismember.

Sembra stia scritto su Nintendo Power.

- Can see new areas in Aegis VII, never before seen areas of the Ishimura
- Game engine specially built for Wii - devs getting nice results on visuals and feel
- New enemies and bosses planned
- Will encounter a good amount of NPCs
- Will take about as long to complete Extraction as it took to complete the original game
- Can play entire story with a friend
- Extraction has an upgrade system - can upgrade weapons and rig
- Trying to balance action and story

-Extraction is going to include all the aspects that made the original great. Expect stasis, telekinesis, strategic dismemberment, and zero-G.
-The team is all about innovation. The game will feel custom built for the Wii platform. New features include brand new weapons, characters, enemies, bosses, locations and plot threads.
-Large focus on co-op. Both players will feel involved with the inlcusion of co-op enhanced puzzles.
-The main character is Lexine - a female in her early twenties. Players will enjoy her as a character, but EA are keeping her mysterious at the moment.
-It looks like dismemberment is retaining a touch of strategy thanks to the Wii Remote pointer. Players can fire vertical or horizontal shots with some weapons.
-One new weapon is the Arc Welder. It fires a burst of energy that arcs between enemies; causing more damage the more enemies it hits. More new weapons are being kept a secret.
-Dead Space Extraction is certainly as bloody as the original game.

- waggle the Wiimote to illuminate your glow-stick
- there will be a speaking protagonist

The gameplay is pure shooting action that puts the Wii Remote'spointer to great use, with the nunchuk playing supporting role for additional control elements. Players point and shoot using the Wii Remote: there are many weapons to pick up and use in the game, each with a primary and secondary function. To fire off the alternate function of a selected weapon, you twist the remote 90 degrees; the on-screen reticule will show that the weapon has been switched with a bar that moves from horizontal orientation to vertical. For example, if you're using the flamethrower (a weapon that has one of the best fire effects I've seen on Wii) you can switch to a burst "fireball" shot on the fly by rotating your wrist and firing. Every weapon has its own secondary shot, and in many cases you'll want to switch back and forth to take out the enemies with a bit more strategy than mindlessly lighting them up.

Though the final product will feature a huge assortment of enemies, the demo only showed "leaper" enemies attacking. Just like in the original Dead Space you'll be able to target specific parts of the enemy's body, shooting off limbs to inhibit their movement. The designers are clearly not scaling back the violence for Wii audiences, as shots would send out buckets of gore in satisfying attacks. If a leaper gets a little too close, you have the ability to pull off a melee attack with a quick motion of the nunchuk, pulling out your rocksaw weapon to get rid of the threat.

In the demo there were opportunities to go different routes – at specific points in the action a glowing line on the ground would branch off into two directions. To choose a path, you simply aim at the glowing line and click on it. According to the developers, there will be plenty of forks in the pathing to change direction and experience different parts of the level. There are also several puzzle elements that will stop your progress – in the demo, the player needed to complete a circuit board connection by dragging the on-screen reticule along an electronic path in a quick motion, without touching the red surface.

During some parts of the game you'll wander into areas that aren't well lit, and that's where the game's newest addition comes into play. The "Glow Worm" is an accessory that's essentially a tube of phosphorescent chemical that will illuminate the area in a shade of green. The effect is temporary, so you'll have to keep shaking the tube by – how else – shaking the Wii remote to keep everything lit up. Keep in mind that while you're shaking the remote, you can't shoot your gun, so there's a bit of strategy involved: is it worth putting yourself at risk by lighting up the area?

Telekinesis will also come into play in Dead Space Extraction: you'll have the ability to pick up and throw objects with real world physics – during the demo the developer showed off a very "Elebits" like motion of aiming at a crate, picking it up with the power of telekinesis, and giving it a throw with a hearty lob on the Wii remote and having it bounce around with realtime physics. And even though the demo didn't feature any sort of "Zero G" effects, the developer assured us to expect it. It is a Dead Space game, after all.

gioco uscito e sembra molto bello, di atmosfera etc
8.5 Presentation
All the same storytelling mechanics are used, and while the script can be a little silly and cliché the overall package is a great one. Extraction lives up to the Dead Space name.
8.5 Graphics
The environments are impressive, animation slick, and the necromorph models look especially nice. What really pushes limits, however, is the dismemberment. Nice.
8.5 Sound
There’s a bland line here and there, but for the most part Extraction brings some great audio to the table. Sound design is chilling, and there are some great lines to boot.
8.5 Gameplay
Every facet of the Dead Space world is represented, be it stasis, weapon fire, telekinesis, or the truly awesome strategic dismemberment. Bottom line, it’s fun.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
The main story clocks in at around eight or nine hours, and while there’s no online leaderboards challenge mode is a nice addition too. Take or leave the motion comics.
8.5
Great OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)
