According to Canon Japan Internas the EOS 50D comes in spring, 2009, exactly on the 05th April, 2009, worldwide presented for the PMA 09 in Wellington, New Zealand. Canon Japan makes this deliberate, because a narrow connection of Japan by New Zealand exists.

l'uscita sembra essere confermata anche dalle uscite delle reflex canon negli ultimi 4 anni:

- 20D sett.2004
- 350D marzo 2005
- 5D ott.2005
- 30D marzo 2006
- 400D sett.2006
- 40D sett.2007
- 450D marzo 2008

in teoria, se si prosegue la serie, a marzo 2009 dovrebbe uscire la 50D e a settembre 2009 la 500D vista la cadenza di 1 anno e mezzo:

- 20D sett.2004 ---> 30D marzo 2006 ---> 40D sett. 2007
- 350D marzo 2005 ---> 400D sett.2006---> 450D marzo 2008
