Problema con scanner

Ciao a tutti
ultimamente sto avendo problemi col mio scanner hp scanjet 5590
da qualche giorno, appena apro il software hp e clicco sulla scansione di un documento, mi esce un avviso che c'è un errore di comunicazione

ho provato a disinstallare tutto e reinstallare ma nulla è cambiato
sul sito hp c'è una patch proprio per questo problema (che tra l'altro è comparso all'improvviso) ma non si è risolto nulla

secondo voi cosa posso fare?

Se già ci sono problemi riconosciuti, magari hanno anche la soluzione

sia ieri che oggi ho telefonato all'assistenza HP che si è rivelata sorprendentemente gentile. sono stati a mia disposizione provando di tutto per risolvermi il problema

alla fine la causa di ciò era la presenza di diverse copie dello scanner, alcune nascoste

la proceduta la elenco sotto nel caso possa servire a qualcuno

Issue

HP Director or HP Solution Center lists the wrong scanning devices or lists the same scanning device more than once.
This document applies to the following products:

* HP Scanjet 2300c and 2300cv
* HP Scanjet 2400c
* HP Scanjet 3500c, 3570c, and 3570cxi
* HP Scanjet 3670 and 3670v
* HP Scanjet 3970 and 3970v
* HP Scanjet 4070 and 4070v
* HP Scanjet 4370
* HP Scanjet 4500c and 4500cxi
* HP Scanjet 4570c, 4570cv, and 4570cxi
* HP Scanjet 4600, 4600p, 4600v, 4670, 4670v, and 4670vp
* HP Scanjet 4850
* HP Scanjet 4890
* HP Scanjet 5500c, 5500cxi, 5550c, 5550cxi, 5590, and 5590p

Solution one: Windows XP and 2000

1. Close HP Director or HP Solution Center, if it is open.
2. Click Start and then click Run.
3. In the Open text field, type command and then click OK.
4. At the command prompt, type set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 and then press enter.
5. At the command prompt, type devmgmt.msc and then press enter to open the Device Manager.
6. On the Device Manager window, click View.
7. Select Show hidden devices.
8. Click the + sign next to Imaging Devices.
NOTE: Any scanning devices that are not currently connected to the computer are dimmed and unavailable.
9. Select the wrong or duplicate device and then press delete.
NOTE: Select and delete all of the wrong or duplicate devices.
10. Close the Device Manager.
11. At the command prompt, type exit and then press enter to close the command window.
12. Open HP Director or HP Solution Center.
13. Verify that the wrong or duplicate devices are not listed in HP Director or HP Solution Center.
* If no HP devices are listed, close the HP software and proceed to step 14.
* If the wrong or duplicate devices are listed in the HP software, repeat steps 1 through 13.
14. Disconnect and then connect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable to the scanner.
NOTE: The computer will detect the new hardware.
15. Open HP Director or HP Solution Center.
16. Scan a test page to ensure the scanner is operating correctly.
