Al momento tra i programmi free Blender θ irraggiungibile!

magari potremmo fare una cernita di programmi e sceglierne 2 o 3 con le potenzialitΰ per essere in qualche modo, usabili con profitto

Conosco abbastanza Blender, ma se non c'era un mio amico che mi insradava nella difficile interfaccia sarei ancora lμ a capire da che parte girarmi. Questo mio amico con Blender in pratica ci lavora, fa modellazione e render per gli architetti.
Io sto provando a seguire le sue orme ma sono ancora lontano.
no non era quello il mio intento, mi sono spiegato male...
vorrei tirar giω una lista (fermiamoci al solo software 3d) composta da 2/3 programmi GPL che valgono la pena di essere imparati, nel senso che possono anche essere utili "nella vita", che non siano solo "giocattoli"...
per spingere la gente che vuole iniziare, a non "crackare" i programmi commerciali, ma a provare software free che penso sia piω che sufficente all inizio..
sarebbe bello anche riuscire a supportare questi 2/3 programmi con recensioni, mini tutorial e guide una-tantum (lo scopo della mia richiesta)

Ciao guyver, se non lo conosci ancora, c'e' Radiance, che sta sviluppando l'ennesimo motore di rendering unbiased, pero' questa volta parte da subito con la GPL: si chiama luxrender.

Per quanto riguarda i programmi da te postati:
l'unico programma gpl che insegue blender (pero' magari per qualche verso lo supera (renderer gi nativo)) per me e' AOI, anche se purtroppo si ostinano a non tenere in considerazione due cose che mi sono care: una sunlight che faccia anche ombre morbide (per evitare di usare una spot, la quale ha lo shape talmente piccolo che e' difficilissima da posizionare lontano dalla scena (ho dato suggerimenti anche per questo)) e l'illuminazione indiretta se ne freg@ dello smoothing di tipo shaded (tipo phong) per cui si e' obbligati ad avere oggetti suddivisi un sacco di volte affinche' non si notino le facce.
Per chiarimenti a riguardo basta che cerchi i post di leope (ahem... io) sul forum di aoi su sourceforge o su http://www.friendlyskies.net/aoiforum/index.php
Comuque che il programma sia valido e piu' completo di altri lo si vede dal manuale e dal gran numero di plugins, oltre che dalla gallery.

C'e' da aggiungere anche che la gi "usabile" di AOI e' praticamente il montecarlo puro, quindi lentissimo. L'autore ha fatto una miglioria per quanto riguarda lo spawn dei raggi di riflessione diffusa, nel senso che puoi deciderne la quantita', il che puo' aiutare soprattutto nelle scene esterne (anche in quelle interne ma e' comunque molto lento).
La modalita' ibrida sinceramente non la trovo sufficientemente completa/ottimizzata.
La comunita' di non grandi dimensioni e' comunque molto attiva e appassionata.
Certo che se integrano bene luxrender in blender...
Anche il modeler ayam, il successore di mops e' gpl, ed e' orientato a renderman.
E' basato molto sulle nurbs, pero' a me ha sempre dato problemi di stabilita' in linux (crashava allegramente). Se hai una nvidia probabilmente potresti usarlo con gelato renderer.
wings3d non l'ho usato molto perche' non ho la testa da box-modelling :D
Di k3d non mi e' mai andata giu' la GUI.
