di che si tratta: è la conversione del gioco Battlefront 2142 (EA Games PC) in stile star wars. E' un FPS tipicamente multiplayer. Puo' supportare mappe fino a 64 giocatori con diverse modalità di gioco.

il team di ragazzi che si è occupato della conversione di BF2142 proviene da tutto il mondo ma ha il nocciolo principale in Germania; la conversione ha riguardato tutto: modelli 3d, texturing, mappe, musiche, parlato.. tutto "fai da te".
Cosa è necessario per giocare online: un PC, una connessione adsl (possibilmente con bassa latenza), una scheda grafica supportata, una copia originale del gioco Battlefield 2142 (che ormai si trova a prezzi stracciati sia su CDWOW (http://www13.cd-wow.com/detail_results_3.php?product_code=377563&subcat=pc) che su Play.com che su altri siti online).
i requisiti hardware per giocare sono quelli di Battlefield 2142:
Minimum System Requirements:
Processor: 1.7GHz Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP/Sempron or greater
Memory: 512MB or more
Free Hard Disk Space: 2.2GB free hard disk space or more

La RC1 della mod è stata finalmente rilasciata ieri! 850 mega circa, auto-installante. I link per il download sono stati aggiunti nel primo post.

Piu' ci gioco e piu' mi rendo conto che questo è qualcosa che avrebbe dovuto fare Lucas ma che non ha mai fatto..
Le battaglie spaziali sono fantastiche, specialamente la mappa Escape from Hoth dove le navi ribelli devono raggiungere il punto dell'iperspazio prima di essere abbattute dai caccia e dai bombardieri; gli xwing e gli altri caccia ribelli devono difenderle a tutti i costi. Mos Espa
Veramente ben fatta e curata. La sua estensione è ideale per giocarla in server con molti giocatori. AT-ST ed altri mezzi terrestri sono a disposizione delle fazioni.

Tirando le somme, tra l'estensione fisica delle mappe (finalmente non ci sono le ben note limitazioni delle console), il supporto di server da 64 giocatori, la grafica, il suono (le musiche, tutte originali), la giocabilità complessiva è venuta fuori un'ottima conversione che stride di fronte a titoli come la serie Battlefront della Lucas-Pandemic. Se poi si aggiunge che è stato tutto fatto da un gruppo di ragazzi smanettoni, che è 100% gratis (se già si ha una copia di Battlefield 2142), che è solo una parte della conversione completa (RC1), è un gioco che lascerà sicuramente il segno nella serie Star Wars.
Nota: come nelle migliori release, nella mappa Endor c'e' un bug che fa crashare il gioco. Il team sta preparando una hotfix.

domanda, banale, ma se installo questo mod il gioco bf2142 rimane integro e si aggiunge questo gioco o viene modificato bf?
sono niubbo nei mod, mai usato uno
in pratica è il seguito che aspettavo di x-wing alliance... fino a una settimana fa ci giocavo ancora!!
bellissimo e con pochi bug per essere free...

per avere la lista dei server devi andare nella sezione avanzata e togliere la crocetta sull'opzione "solo server rankati"
ci sono almeno una 40tina di server
tra l'altro e' uscita gia' la patch 1.1 che sistema un po' di bug segnalati e il ctd (crash to desktop) della mappa di endor
-Server overhead has now been reduced so your servers will run much smoother
-CTD bugs: We have eliminated several major ones but there may still be more. Any feedback is welcome if your server crashes
-Memory Leak has been fixed
-Some scopes have been improved for visibility
-All maps have been optimized more for better performance
-Mos Espa minimap is now accurate and includes a pushmap indicator to show players which flags can be taken and in what order.
-Various visual details have been improved as well as other minor fixes
-Various wallhacks addressed for all Endor rocks as well as some Mos Espa buildings
-Escape from Hoth Beacon radius doubled
-Mos Espa Assault landspeeder fixed for some errors as well as increased armor and improved camera visibility while gunner is operating the gun
-Rebel trooper uav droid recoded to be like the imperial version
-EMP is more effective now
-Anti Spawn Camp under ISD hanger

Scusa ragazzi ma... questo gioco mi interessa molto ma c'è la modalità single player? a me il multiplayter non interessa.

Sono rimasto deluso, il gioco è instabilissimo, e se faccio qualcosa (non sò che) di sbagliato punkbuster mi espelle:mbe:
