Sarò sincero: il gioco non è stato annunciato oggi, ma qualche mese fa. Il problema è che nessuno allora se ne era accorto, e la notizia (peraltro non di quelle che ti cambiano la vita, eh) è passata sotto silenzio. Il publisher Lighthouse Interactive ha rilasciato ieri alcune immagini del gioco, il che ci offre l'opportunità di porre rimedio.

Avencast: Rise of the Mage è un gioco di ruolo d'azione fantasy previsto per il prossimo autunno, pubblicato dalla già citata Lighthouse (non sappiamo ancora chi lo distribuirà in Italia).

Il giocatore veste i panni di un giovane apprendista, impegnato nel completamento di diverse quest che gli permetteranno di diventare un mago: lancio degli incantesimi, armi, combattimento corpo a corpo, preparazione di pozioni, ecc. Dopo quello che potremmo alternativamente definire antefatto o furbo tutorial, il nostro eroe scoprirà che un conto sono le lezioni pseudo-teoriche dell'accademia di magia, un conto è doversela vedere con un'orda di demoni intenzionati a conquistare il mondo.

Tra le caratteristiche del gioco vale la pena citare la varietà delle ambientazioni, gli oltre trenta tipi di mostri diversi (ciascuno con le sue strategie, mosse d'attacco e di difesa, ecc.), l'uso di "skill tree" che permetteranno di diversificare in maniera importante le abilità e le skill del nostro alter ego virtuale.
