Problema MBR

Devo far diventare la partizione C: anche come boot manager oltre che boot loader, come devo fare? :(

Il problema è questo:

Ho due HD nel computer, sul 1° HD ho installato Vista e sul 2° avevo XP (che ho cancellato e quindi ho formattato quella partizione.
Il problema è che all'avvio mi compare sempre il boot che mi chiede se avviare Vista o XP.
Se provo ad impostare nel bios l'avvio dal 1° HD mi dice "disc boot failure" o qualcosa del genere, perchè in pratica deve leggere, credo, il file boot.ini che si trova nel 2° HD.
Dovendo togliere il 2° HD come è possibile avviare solo il 1° HD e quindi Vista, dal momento che se nel bios imposto l'avvio dal 1° HD mi dice "disk system boot failure"?
