Il portatile de quo (P!!!-S 1.4 su VIA PN133T) ha 640Mb pc133 di cui 32 condivisi per la Savage4. Perché se ne vedono solo 598?!

prima cosa che mi viene in mente senza aver verificato con la "calcoletta".
1024 byte che fanno un kilobyte .... i conti tornano?

Credo sia quello il problema: io ho 1gb, ma Gnome System Monitor mi rileva 1011,9 Mb, quindi a me come vedi sono spariti 12,1 mega :D

Come si fa a vedere quanta ram vede effettivamente il sistema? :D
Poi win ne vede 608... scusate la stupidaggine...

Ci avviciniamo...il resto della memoria dovrebbe essere in parte utilizzata da kernel code & (static) data, e un'altra parte da dati interni del kernel non swappabili (compresi i driver; lsmod ti fornisce la dimensione dei dati e codice statici, poi ci sono i dati allocati).

Puoi allegare anche un dmesg completo?
