ciao a tutti. volevo testare la distribuzione deepOfix che dovrebbe presentarsi come un mail server basato su linux con interfaccia di gestione via web

volendo testarlo ho provato a caricarlo come macchina virtuale tramite vmware server 1.0.1 partendo da immagine iso con scheda di rete "bridged"

tutto ok; installazione, parametri di rete, reboot... ma non si collega via web... accedo al sistema da console e trovo una sola interfaccia di rete "lo" = 127.0.0.1 e nessuna eth

qualcuno ha provato la mia stessa situazione o simile? forse non riconosce la scheda di rete emulata da vmware server, avete qualche suggerimento?

ho trovato, navigando in rete, che il problema dovrebbe essere dovuto al fatto che nella distro di deepOfix non è presente il modulo realtek 8139

qualcuno mi sa dare delle indicazioni per risolvere questo problema (cosa devo fare per aggiungere il modulo mancante?)

Hello NRG.

Sorry for answering in english, but nobody from our team speaks italian.

You are right, that the network driver for VMware is missing in the current release of deepOfix Messaging Server. We compiled the kernel module you need and uploaded it on our server: http://download.deeproot.in/pcnet32.ko. You need to copy this file to /lib/modules/2.6.15.4-deeprootlinux/kernel/drivers/net on your virtual machine.

I don't know an easy way to copy a file to a virtual machine, so please try the following:

Start your prefered CD-Writing application and create an *.iso file which contains pcnet32.ko. If you are using linux this should work: mkisofs -o pcnet32.iso pcnet32.ko
In VMware select your virtual machine, click on "Edit virtual machine settings", select "CD-ROM 1", click "Use ISO image" and select the *.iso file you just created. Be sure, that "Connected" and "Connect at power on" are activated.
Now start your virtual machine. Once it has finished booting press ALT+F2 and login as described here (http://wiki.deeproot.in/deepofix/wiki/Command_Line/Looks_Like_This)
Mount the ISO-Image by entering mount /dev/hdc /mnt
Copy the file pcnet32.ko to the above mentioned directory: cp /mnt/pcnet32.ko /lib/modules/2.6.15.4-deeprootlinux/kernel/drivers/net
Run the command depmod
Now you can load the module by modprobe pcnet32...
and activate the interface with ifup eth0

Non capisco perchè una volta installato non riesco ad entrare nella configurazione, sia dal web, mi chiede user e password come user metto "admin" e password quella impostata durante l'installazione …. e mi dice sempre errato
provo direttamente dal pc dove è montato deepofix, metto come user "root" e la password sempre quella che ho dichiarato durante l'installazione.. e anche qui niente mi dice che sono errati.. in cosa sbaglio ?

This problem sounds strange. Did you use any "special characters" in your password? You could try to install the deepOfix Mail Server again, but this time using a very simple password like "1234". You can change it afterwards in the EasyPush Server Manager. In the meantime I will try to debug and fix the problem. By the way, be sure to use the most recent version (3.1) of deepOfix as there are many improvements compared to version 3.0.

Stavo già installando la versione 3.1.. cmq il bug che parla non c'entra niente con questa anomalia.
Cmq era una mia cavolata... non mettevo il dominio in fase di installazione.. questo portava a non riconoscermi anche se gli avevo settato la posta.. quando ho reistallato il tutto mettendo anche il dominio, tutto si è risolto...

c'è qualcuno che lo ha già fatto funzionare realmente ? e lo utilizza? se si.. avrei bisogno di unamano su come inizializzarlo...

Uppo il topic perchè ho provato ad installare questa distribuzione ma ad un certo punto dell'installazione si verifica un errore e l'installazione termina...

Provando a installare DeepOfix 3.2 su un mio vecchio portatile ( Hp Pavilion ze4519ea ) mi sono trovato a non riuscire a far funzionare la scheda di rete .. alla accensione non si attiva la scheda anche se sembra attiva perché la vedo in ifconfig .. ma a volte all'accensione del portatile mi accorgo che la scheda si è attivata perché vedo l'indicatore verde della porta eternet acceso ma non riesco a pingrare ne gal portatile ne il portatile dalla rete ...

installando Ubuntu 8.04 ho scoperto che la scheda di rete a corredo nel mio portatile è una National Semiconductor Corporate DP83815
Secondo Voi come faccio a fare digerire correttamente questa scheda di rete a DeepOfix ?
Ho provato anche ad alloggiarci una scheda di rete PCMICA Realteck RTL-8139C+ ma non posso spegnere la scheda di rete integrata e per tanto non sono ancora riuscito a far funzionare DeepOfix 3.2 ..
