SOYO Computer, Inc. today announced a pair of Intel Socket-478 motherboards
with ``Brookdale'' i845 chipsets, and support for up to 2GHz Intel Pentium
4 processors.

SOYO's SY-P4ISR and SY-P4IS2, with their fast 400MHz system bus, and i845
chipsets, enable Pentium 4 systems to use more cost-effective SDRAM to make
leading-edge PCs affordable to consumers without sacrificing performance.

The SY-P4ISR is a full-feature board, and includes an embedded Promise
IDE-RAID chip to provide RAID Levels 0,1. Single board list price of the SY-P4ISR
will be $155 U.S. Designed for consumers, SOYO's SY-P4IS2 offers the same
features, but does not include RAID. It will have a list price of $135 U.S.

The SOYO SY-P4ISR/SY-P4IS2 enhances system performance up to 46% by increasing
the FSB speed from the typical 133MHz to 400MHz. Combined with their AGP slots,
the boards offer a dedicated, high-speed port for the movement of large blocks
of 3D texture data between the PC's graphics controller and system memory.
This makes them an excellent board for real-time video editing, digital content
creation, 3-D graphics processing, commercial 3-D modeling, CAD/workstation
applications, image compression, speech recognition, gaming, and a variety
of mainstream applications.

The SY-P4ISR/P4IS2 are easily expandable with three 168-pin SDRAM 3.3V
DIMM sockets to support up to 3GBs of memory, and six 32-bit Bus Mastering
PCI slots (V2.2 compliant). Both include an AC97 CODEC on board, which provides
2-channel speaker support with 3D surround sound.
