Ubuntu 6.06: problemi con server grafico su mb nforce2 [Archivio]

Ho installato Ubuntu 6.06 su un pc con mb nforce2, con video integrato.
Avevo installato la versione precedente senza problemi e l'ho usata per 1 anno senza problemi e con soddisfazione.
Tuttavia la 6.06 come live cd mi dava il problema di una risoluzione grafica di 480x680, senza possibilità di modificarla.
Ho installato quindi senza usre il live cd, ma mi dà lo stesso problema.
Se cerco di riconfigurare il server grafico con il comando "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86", non parte la consolle di riconfigurazione, ma mi dà un messaggio di errore (non lo ricordo per esteso adesso e non ho il pc in questione sotto mano).
Qualcuno mi sà dare una mano ?.

hai provato a modificare il file xorg.conf?
Se ricordo bene è successo anche a me su un pc che ho fatto per un amico è bastato modificare il sudetto file.

No, non ho provato.
Mi era successo qualcosa di simile, con ubuntu e debian, ma avevo sempre rifatto tutta la configurazione di xserver, che questa volta non parte.
Provo a fare come dici tu.

perchè il server è xorg, quindi devi usare sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg :P
