Installation
------------
Make sure there is an X11 server installed and running on your system.
If you don't have an X11 server, you can get one free from the Apple
home page at
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/appl...1formacosx.html (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/x11formacosx.html)
(this is also the recommended X11 server).
- Open a "Terminal" window. With the "Finder" this can be found in
Applications/Utilities/Terminal
- If you are installing from CD-ROM, enter the command
sudo /Volumes/EAGLE416/english/macosx-x11/install/installation
and wait until it has ended.
- If you are installing the downloaded TGZ archive, enter the commands
tar xzf eagle-m11-eng-4.16r1.tgz
sudo eagle-m11-eng-4.16r1/install
and wait until they have ended.
- Start the X11 server (in case it is not running, yet):
Applications/Utilities/X11
- Enter the command
sudo eagle
to invoke the product registration.
- Close the EAGLE window.
- In order to allow the Alt key to be passed to EAGLE (as well as other
X11 applications) you need to do
cat /Applications/EAGLE-X11/bin/Xmodmap >> $HOME/.Xmodmap
and disable the options
X11 Preferences/Input/Follow system keyboard layout
X11 Preferences/Input/Emulate three button mouse
of the X-Server.
- Close the "Terminal" window.
- NOTE: the installation procedure described here is not mandatory.
You can just extract the TGZ archive to any location of your choice
and use it there directly. All the 'install' script does is to copy
the program and man-page to the default location and set up a
symbolic link to the executable in /usr/bin/eagle.
If you want to install EAGLE to a different location than
/Applications/EAGLE-X11, you can add the name of that directory to the
installation calls above. For instance, if you would rather have EAGLE
installed to /opt/eagle, this would be
sudo /Volumes/EAGLE416/english/macosx-x11/install/installation /opt/eagle
or
sudo eagle-m11-eng-4.16r1/install /opt/eagle
respectively.
Usage
-----
Start EAGLE by clicking on
/Applications/EAGLE-X11/bin/eagle
in the "Finder".

grazie a tutti!
