Il nuovo protocollo Hypertransport, ufficialmente introdotto il 24 luglio 2001, permetterà di creare connessioni tra vari tipi di periferiche hardware con velocità nettamente più elevate a quelle attualmente permesse dai tradizionali bus di connessione.
