Samba, what is this?

Non riesco a copiare una serie di file da un pc con windows a una partizione messa in condivisione con linux.
Dopo qualche minuto dall'inizio della copia, il pc con windows inizia a dire:


Errore di creazione del file - Il nome di rete specificato non è più disponibile


ed effettivamente non riesco più ad accedere al disco condiviso con samba.
Nel dmesg ho trovato questo:

mmm... potresti provare a montare la partizione anzichè con smbfs con cifs?

Non vorrei parlare troppo presto, ma con cifs ho copiato fin'ora 11Gb su 13 e non ho ancora visto un problema!!!!
Che differenza passa tra samba e cifs?
