"Search Across Computers" feature will store copies of the user's Word documents, PDFs, spreadsheets and other text-based documents on Google's own servers, to enable searching from any one of the user's computers.
In doing just that, Google would violate the Privacy Act under the United States Government laws, in other words, it is illegal. I can assure you that the American citizens would never allow this to happen.
