Un saluto a tutti i membri del forum.
Mi sono appena iscritto è volevo condividere con tutti voi questa notizia per sentire pareri e opinioni.
La così tanto valida tecnologia Centrino 2 (Sonoma) sta passando lo scettro a Napa (Centrino 3) che equipaggerà anche i desktop con un set di processori con le seguenti fasi di lancio:
Yonah (mobile)
To be introduced at CES, January 2006
Official wattage consumption not yet available, expected to be far less than 30
At introduction expect-
1.66GHz to 2.33GHz dual-core chips
1.5GHz to 1.83GHz low-voltage dual-core chips
1.06GHz and 1.2GHz ultra-low voltage dual-core chips
1.66GHz and 1.83GHz single-core chips
Merom (mobile—post Yonah)
To be introduced in the 2nd half of 2006
Chips will debut in the low 2GHz range
Should incorporate 64-bit processing
Power consumption is targeted at 5 watts(!)
Conroe (desktop)
To be introduced in the 2nd half of 2006
Introductory speeds will be between 2-3GHz
Power consumption is targeted at 65 watts (compared to the P4’s 95 watts)
Dopo questo bello specchietto chi è in procinto di acquistare un NB avrà un bel dilemma.
Il neo dell'attuale Centrino è la mancanza dei 64bit (tecnologia del futuro) ma il nuovo che ha veramente tante altre belle cose oltre l'attuale (tra cui l'implementazione del nuovo standard WLAN 802.11n) non sarà ancora 64bit fin quando uscirà la rivitazione del nuovo Pentium M (Yonah) che prenderà il nome di Merom.
Sembrerebbe allora interessante acquistare ora Pentium 4 6xx HT (che si vendono per notebook anche se sono per desktop) visto che sono già 64bit.
Oppure un AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core oppure Athlon 64 oppure Turion che sono tutti 64bit
Veramente un bel grattacapo per chi non vuole ritrovarsi tra poco a non poter ultilizzare SO e applicativi a 64bit (Linux e XP Pro lo sono già e Vista lo sarà).
