Stando alle informazioni anticipate dal sito amdzone a questo indirizzo, AMD avrebbe in programma una consistente riduzione di prezzo per i propri processori Opteron delle serie 100 e 1000, soluzioni per sistemi a singolo Socket basati rispettivamente su piattaforme Socket 939 e Socket F.

Passando alla famiglia di processori Opteron 1000, dotati di memory controller compatibile con la memoria DDR2, i prezzi variano da un massimo di 655 dollari per il modello Opteron 1222SE sino ai 168 dollari USA della cpu Opteron 1210 HE.
