• La Variazione dell'SNRM e' possibile tramite lo stability adjustment che si trova seguendo questo percorso: "Amministrazione - Impostazione DSL - Regolazione della stabilita' (ADSL)", basta attivare quest'ultimo, scegliere un valore e cliccare su applica. Questa feature inoltre memorizza la variazione effettuata anche in caso di spegnimento fisico del router, quindi non di un semplice riavvio software.
  
  
• Sempre in "Amministrazione" sotto la voce "Suggerimenti" si trova un'interessante feature che permette di interloquire tramite mail con il supporto ASUS.
  
  
• Valori quali, attenzione, snr, portante, etc. si possono visualizzare in "Registro DSL" dopo aver cliccato su "Registro di sistema". Registro che tra l'altro rilascia anche altri dati, tra i quali, il firmware e il driver ADSL installati, la modulazione della propria linea e gli errori della sessione in atto.
  
  
• Non e' possibile disabilitare in modo "classico" la 5 GHz ma lo si può fare per vie "traverse" andando su "Wireless - Professionale" abilitare la funzione radio, spuntare tutti i giorni della settimana e impostare un orario molto vicino alla mezzanotte... diciamo 23:59. Così facendo ogni giorno la 5 GHz sarà attiva per un solo minuto, ovvero tra le 23:59 e la mezzanotte.
  
  
• Il modem/router e' consigliabile metterlo in verticale per una migliore efficienza del segnale wireless, anche perché la base non e' rimovibile se non forzandola.
  
  
• Tra le varie feature e' presente anche un servizio proprietario ASUS di DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) denominato asuscomm.com, molto utile in quanto non e' a pagamento e non richiede conferme mensile come sempre più accade con altri DDNS. Naturalmente nulla vieta di usare servizi alternativi, a patto che siano supportati. Potete abilitare, e conseguentemente registrare, il proprio indirizzo andando su WAN - DDNS".
  
  
• Nella sezione "Amministrazione" trovate "Spectrum", dove e' presente un grafico che mostra l'andamento dell'SNR durante tutta la durata della connessione, utile per monitorare e valutare la stabilita' della linea. Per intenderci, quello che con alcuni modem/router montanti chipset broadcom e' possibile fare con, ad esempio, DMT Tool.
  
  
• Per stessa ammissione di Asus l'UPNP e' difettoso con qualsiasi firmware... comunque stanno lavorando per risolvere il problema senza pero' dare certezze sui tempi.

Come indicazione di massima riporto la tabella che spesso si trova in "giro" sia su questo forum sia googolando.

ADSL CONVENZIONALE - ADSL1 (DA 640 Kb/s a 8 Mb/s)

Rapporto segnale rumore – Margine Rumore (SNR):

< 5db = problemi, non si sincronizza o ha problemi a sincronizzarsi
5-10db = scadente, si possono riscontrare problemi di sincronizzazione
10-15db = mediocre (non ci sono problemi di sincronizzazione)
15-22db = buono
23-28db = ottimo
29-35db = eccellente

Attenuazione di linea:

< 20db = eccellente, avete una linea molto buona e siete evidentemente molto vicini alla centrale
20-30db = ottimo
30-40db = buono
40-50db = mediocre
50-60db = scadente/scarso
60-65db = critico
> 65db = problemi

ADSL2/2+ (DA 8 Mb/s a 24 Mb/s)

Rapporto segnale rumore – Margine Rumore (SNR):

< 3db = problemi, non si sincronizza o ha problemi a sincronizzarsi
3-4db = mediocre, si possono riscontrare problemi di sincronizzazione se abbinato a valori di portante superiori ai 12 Mb/s
5-7db = buono (ottimo se abbinato a valori di portante superiori ai 12 Mb/s)
8-10db = ottimo
> 10db = eccellente

Attenuazione di linea:

< 20db = eccellente, avete una linea molto buona e siete evidentemente molto vicini alla centrale, potete collegarvi con il massimo valore di portante agganciata
20-30db = ottimo
30-40db = buono, non vi sono controindicazioni
40-50db = mediocre, si consiglia di non superare i 12 Mb/s di portante
50-55db = critico, potrebbe essere necessario un abbassamento del valore di portante in caso di instabilità della connessione
> 55db = problemi, potrebbe non essere possibile instaurare una connessione ADSL2

Spero che questo thread sia ben frequentato perche' sono molto interessato ad avere piu' informazioni possibili in merito a questo prodotto. Le uniche due considerazioni che posso fare sono la prima in merito al chipset che se fosse davvero un broadcom sarebbe un bel passo in avanti rispetto al fratello minore n55u che forse aveva nel chipset uno dei suoi pochi punti di debolezza la seconda considerazione piu' che altro e' una perplessita' legata alle antenne interne che in teoria potrebbero limitarne un po' la parte wireless sempre mettendolo in paragone al suo "fratellino" che invece lato wireless non aveva paragoni. Vedremo

Dopo la delusione dei vari netgear (soprattutto per quel che riguarda il lato firmware) e l'inaspettata qualità del DSL-N55U spero davvero che questo nuovo DSL-N66U sia all'altezza delle aspettative!

beh oddio, non ci metterei la mano sul fuoco ma le immagini che ho postato sono piuttosto recenti e attendibili, quando e dove avresti sentito di questo cambiamento?

Sinceramente sono abbastanza perplesso:

- no USB 3.0
- no procio dual core ( vedi l'ARM presente su AC-56U)
- no parte AC sul WiFi

che cambia rispetto al N55U a parte il design ?
