The Nikon D7000 is Nikon's newest DSLR, aimed right between the D90 and the D300s crowd.

Pending actual receipt of a shipping production sample for confirmation, this Nikon D7000 just replaced both the D90 and D300s with superior performance.

The D7000 superior to the D300s? Ignore the trivial stuff like AF points; with the addition of the U1 and U2 modes on the top dial, as far as I'm concerned, the D7000 smokes the D300s for shooting utility. The D300s is a D300, which is old 2007 technology.

Nikon will still sell the D300s, probably for more money than the D7000, because it can, but I think the D300s has just met its match.

From what I can see, the D7000 is now Nikon's top DX camera. It should outperform the old D300s, and weighs almost as little as the D90. Whoo hoo!
