So there was a great full moon tonight and I wanted to actually take some pics that didn't look like junk. I'm a pretty big noob so here is what I tried with the TZ-5.
Just pointing in IA will produce a bright white over exposed blob dot. duh.
So turns out this little camera has some decent manual controls I've yet to play with.
Moon shot tests:
set to manual.
under menu:
-set intelligent ISO to OFF
-set ISO Sensitivity to 100 [ will appear as an option ]
-set metering mode to spot [ the single dot ]
-set Min shutter speed to either 1/200 or 1/125 [will appear as an option]
now while on tripod set detailed spot on the moon:
-adjust exposure negative to desired brightness [should be able to see moon detail now]
-use auto bracket [try +/- 1/3 or 2/3] to get a 3 setups with each shot
-finally use a 2 sec timer [1/200 or 1/125 are pretty fast. might not need this]
take cool moon pics
keep playing with shutter speed, exposure and bracket until you get the pic you want.
with this setup you can actually take reasonably good pics while just handheld.
other settings/notes
continuous AF = off
i.exposure = off
